Ruth Wright

Ruth Wright is an American former state legislator in Colorado and an environmentalist. A Democrat, she represented Boulder County in the Colorado House of Representatives from 1981 to 1994. [1] She was an environmentalist. She was the second woman to serve as House Minority Leader in Colorado. The Boulder Public Library has a collection of her papers. [2] She graduated cum laude from Marquette University in 1950 with a Bachelor of Philosophy degree. She then traveled abroad and lived in Germany, Austria, and Saudi Arabia. She married Ken Wright in 1954. She graduated from University of Colorado's Law School in 1972. [3]

He later served as a U.S. Senator from Illinois, from 1925 to 1931. Deneen had previously served as a member of the Illinois House of Representatives from 1892 to 1894. As an attorney, he had been the lead prosecutor in Chicago's infamous Adolph Luetgert murder trial.

Wayne Norviel Aspinall was an American lawyer and politician from Colorado. He is largely known for his tenure in the United States House of Representatives, serving twelve terms as a Democrat from 1949 to 1973 from Colorado's Fourth District. Aspinall became known for his direction of the House Interior and Insular Affairs Committee, of which he was the chairman from 1959 to 1973. Morgan Lenore Carroll is an American politician from Colorado and was the Chairwoman of the Colorado Democratic Party. A Democrat, Carroll represented Colorado House District 36 in the city of Aurora from 2004 to 2008, and she represented the state's 29th Senate district from 2009 to 2017. Carroll served as President of the Colorado State Senate from 2013 to 2014 and as minority leader in 2015. Carroll stepped down as minority leader in July 2015 to unsuccessfully run against incumbent Republican Mike Coffman for Colorado's 6th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. In addition to her legislative work, Carroll works for the law firm of Bachus & Schanker.

Neguse is the first Eritrean-American elected to the United States Congress and Colorado's first black member of Congress. Neguse has served as House assistant Democratic leader since 2024.

Josie Ward Heath is an American politician, community activist and educator who currently serves as a member of the Colorado State Land Board. She studied at East Oregon State College and graduated in 1959 with a degree in education, followed by a Master of Science in 1960 from the University of Wisconsin. She married Rollie Heath, and they lived in West Germany for 4 years while her husband worked for the military. Upon return to the U.S. the family moved to Boulder, where Josie began her involvement in community organizations and politics.

Ruth Small Stockton represented Jefferson County for 24 years as a Republican state representative in the Colorado General Assembly. Stockton was the Senate Majority Caucus leader (1967-1968) and the first woman to serve as the state's president pro tempore (1979-1980). She was inducted into the Colorado Women's Hall of Fame in 1985.

Ruth Cave Flowers (1903–1980) was one of the first African American female graduates from the University of Colorado (CU). Described by former colleague Dorothy Rupert as having an “infectious love of learning”, Flowers was a lawyer and educator who taught at several high schools and colleges across the country.
