Early years

He was born Bello (Antioquia) and raised in the Pedregal neighborhood, north of Medellín, the capital of Antioquia. [1] From an early age, he demonstrated musical abilities, especially in rap, freestyle, and dancehall, genres in which he excelled in high school. After graduating from high school at age 17, he began singing on buses, which helped him contribute to the subsistence at home. This allowed him to gain experience and confidence over the years, and he soon began performing in bars, clubs and music events. [2] [1] Years later, he traveled to Curaçao, where he found inspiration by the sea to create his music. [1]

Musical career

He began his professional career in music in 2017 with the single "Morena", promoting his songs on digital platforms such as YouTube and SoundCloud at the time. [3] [4] Later, he became known on the music scene by signing with Kevin Roldán's Kings Records record label. [5] In 2020, he began a series of hits in the Andean region with the single "Lejanía". [6] [4]

In 2021, he achieved international success with the release of the single "Mujeriego", which entered Billboard magazine's Billboard Global 200 list. He then released "Jordan", which also charted in Spotify's Global Top 50 for several weeks and racked up over 400 million views on YouTube. [7] Subsequently, he released a series of hits, including: "Wasa Wasa", "Malory" and "Monastery", establishing himself as one of the main artists of the new generation of urban music in Colombia. [8]

His rise in music led him to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards, where he performed the single "Nivel de Perreo" alongside J Balvin. [9] [1]

This success allowed him to sign a music distribution contract with Sony Music in 2022. [5] That same year, he won a Heat Award in the Best Artist of the Andean Region category and a Youth Award in the New Generation-Male category. [10] On August 5, 2022, he released his first EP titled Reggaetonera, which includes a total of 7 songs. [11] He later presented his second EP, Los Piratas, with producer SOG. [12] [13]

In 2023, he released "Ghetto Star", a symbolic song that shows how a young man from a humble neighborhood became a music leader. [14] He traveled to Puerto Rico to record the video for the single, "X 1 Beso", with De la Ghetto. [15] Additionally, he participated in the remix of "Corazón Roto" and "Mercho" alongside Lil Cake, Ozuna, Migrantes and Nico Valdi. During the second half of 2023, he toured Europe for two months and premiered his hit "Quema" alongside Mexican artist Peso Pluma, [16] that entered the US Billboard charts: Hot Latin Songs, [17] and Billboard Hot 100. [18] He also collaborated on the remix of the single "Una Noche en Medellín" with Karol G and Chris MJ. [19]

In June 2023 he sued King Records for mismanagement of recording, management and publishing agreements. [20]
