Ryan Hadlock is an American record producer, best known for his production work on platinum-selling album The Lumineers by The Lumineers. [1]
Hadlock has been around music his entire life, as his parents Joe and Manny Hadlock founded Bear Creek Studio in 1977. [2] The studio has remained family-owned for two generations, and is now headed by Ryan. [3] Joe Hadlock was in a number of Seattle bands, and their family home and studio were places where creativity was always encouraged, and part of the fabric of business and socializing. [2] Ryan grew up around famous musicians, but also many talented studio players who didn't achieve fame, but taught him much about how records were crafted. Hadlock studied sound recording in London and at The Evergreen State College. [4] In London, he produced albums at the Abbey Road Studios and by influential Olympia indie rock band Gossip, as well as the first record by Johnny Flynn, [4] and has assisted Gil Norton, David A. Stewart, and Joe Chiccarelli. Hadlock is known more recently for his work on Vance Joy's album Dream Your Life Away . [5] He is a co-producer of Vance Joy's single "Fire and Flood" released on July 24, 2015.[ citation needed ]

The Lumineers are an American alternative folk band based in Denver, Colorado. The founding members are Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites. Schultz and Fraites began writing and performing together in Ramsey, New Jersey, in 2005. Cellist and vocalist Neyla Pekarek joined the band in 2010, and was a member until 2018. The Lumineers emerged as one of the most popular folk-rock/Americana artists during the revival of those genres, their popularity growing in the 2010s. They are known for their energetic live shows and several international hit singles, including "Ho Hey", "Stubborn Love", "Ophelia", "Angela" and "Cleopatra". The band has become one of the top touring bands in the United States and is also popular in other countries.

The concept originally appeared in the Kurt Vonnegut novel Mother Night.
