Ryan Miller (born September 27, 1975) is an American college basketball coach and current assistant head coach at Creighton University. He has been an assistant coach at UNLV, Auburn, New Mexico, Pepperdine, Memphis and TCU. He has coached under John Calipari, Steve Alford, Tony Barbee and Dave Rice over the course of his career.

Born in Mitchell, South Dakota, Miller attended Mitchell High School and played for coach, Gary Munsen, and lead the Mitchell Kernels to the South Dakota State AA championship in 1994. Miller earned All-State honors in 1993 and repeated the honor in 1994. [1]

Miller and his family have made their mark within basketball circles in South Dakota and on a national level. Miller's father, Tom and uncles Chris and Alan were all stand-out players at Dakota Wesleyan University and Alan Miller is still the all-time leading scorer in South Dakota college basketball history. [2] Miller's brothers are Jared Miller (former teammate at Northern State) and Mike Miller, two-time NBA Champion with the Miami Heat and is currently an Assistant Men's Basketball coach at the University of Memphis. Miller's cousin, Macy Miller (Alan's daughter) is currently the PG for the South Dakota State University women's basketball team where she has led the Jackrabbits to back-to-back Summit League tournament titles and NCAA Tournament appearances. Collegiately, Miller played at Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota leading his team as captain in 1998 to a region championship, Elite 8 appearance and to a ranking as high as #3 in Division II nationally. That same year he was awarded NSIC (Conference) MVP and Region MVP. Overall, Miller was a two-time All-Conference award winner, All-Academic and All-American at Northern State as well. Following his college playing career Miller was named to the Northern State Hall of Fame in 2013. [4] [5]

After college, Miller played professionally as he was drafted into the CBA in 1999 and then played for the Fargo-Morehead Beez in the International Basketball League during the 1999 season. Following that Miller played in the Australian Basketball Association for two seasons winning a league championship and being named league MVP.

Miller's college coaching career began in 2003 at the University of Memphis as he was at the Tigers from 2003 to 2006, where he worked under current University of Kentucky coach John Calipari. During the 2006–07 season Miller was an assistant coach at Pepperdine University and from 2007–2012 he was an Assistant Basketball Coach at the University of New Mexico under current Nevada Coach Steve Alford. Miller served as associate head coach at Auburn University from 2012–2014 working under Coach Tony Barbee. Most recently 2014–2016, Miller was the associate head coach/assistant coach at UNLV. [6]

Currently, Miller is an assistant head coach under Head Coach Greg McDermott. [7] [8]

He had a long career in the National Basketball Association (NBA), playing from 1988 to 2005. Strickland was an assistant coach for the South Florida Bulls, under Orlando Antigua from 2014 to 2017. He formerly served in an administrative role for the University of Kentucky basketball team under head coach John Calipari and was the director of basketball operations at the University of Memphis under Calipari. He is the godfather of current NBA player Kyrie Irving. Strickland was inducted into the New York City Basketball Hall of Fame with the Class of 2008.

Brian Jones is an American college basketball coach. He is currently an assistant coach at East Tennessee State. Jones is a graduate of University of Northern Iowa. Prior to North Dakota Jones was a longtime assistant on the coaching staffs of Steve Alford. While working with Alford, he participated in the four NCAA Division I men's basketball tournaments, once with Southwest Missouri St. and three times with Iowa. Jones was named the 18th head coach of the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux basketball program on May 25, 2006. Under Jones' tenure at North Dakota, the university won back-to-back Great West tournament championships in 2011 and 2012, and he led North Dakota to four consecutive appearances in the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament. In 2017, he led North Dakota to the NCAA Division I Tournament for the first time.

The TCU Horned Frogs are the athletic teams that represent Texas Christian University. The 18 varsity teams participate in NCAA Division I and in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) for football, competing mostly in the Big 12 Conference. The Memphis Tigers men's basketball team represents the University of Memphis in NCAA Division I men's college basketball. The Tigers have competed in the American Athletic Conference since 2013. As of 2020, the Tigers had the 26th highest winning percentage in NCAA history. While the Tigers have an on-campus arena, Elma Roane Fieldhouse, the team has played home games off campus since the mid-1960s. The Tigers moved to the Mid-South Coliseum at the Memphis Fairgrounds in 1966, and then to downtown Memphis at The Pyramid, initially built for the team in 1991 and later home to the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies. In 2004, both teams moved to a new downtown venue, FedExForum. ESPN Stats and Information Department ranked Memphis as the 19th most successful basketball program from 1962 to 2012 in their annual 50 in 50 list.

Barbee led UTEP to a Conference USA championship in 2010 and was named Conference USA Coach of the Year. Barbee played college basketball for Massachusetts under John Calipari, winning two Atlantic 10 regular season and tournament championships in 1992 and 1993.

The 2021 NCAA Division I women's soccer tournament was the 40th edition of the NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Tournament, a postseason tournament to determine the national champion of NCAA Division I women's college soccer. The College Cup was played on December 3 and December 6. It was originally set to be played in San Jose, California, but was moved to Stevens Stadium due to a conflict with the MLS playoffs schedule.
