Jabrayil (Cəbrayıl) is de jure an administrative territorial entity in the south-western part of the Republic of Azerbaijan, but de facto this territory was occupied by Armenian forces during the Nagorno-Karabakh War and has been controlled by the unrecognized Republic of Artsakh ever since. According to the last 1989 Soviet census, there were 49,156 people living in the rayon. Jabrail rayon has productive soils, and before the war the population was mostly involved in agriculture. Jabrayil shares its southern borders with Iran.
Fuzuli or Fizuli is a rayon of Azerbaijan. It was named after the Azerbaijani poet Fuzûlî. Its capital is the town of Füzuli. The western half, including the capital, has been controlled by the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh ever since as part of its Hadrut Province, since the Nagorno-Karabakh War. Horadiz is temporarily center of Fuzuli Rayon due to Fuzuli's occupation by Armenian forces since 23 August 1993.

The Kuma–Manych Canal is an irrigation canal in Russia's Stavropol Krai. The canal, completed in 1965, runs across the Kuma–Manych Depression, connecting the Kuma River, which flows into the Caspian Sea, with the East Manych River, which also flows toward the Caspian, but dries out long before reaching it. The East Manych River should not be confused with the West Manych, a tributary of the Don which flows into the Sea of Azov and connects to the Black Sea.

Movlud Suleymanli, is an Azerbaijani prose writer, dramatist, screenwriter and film adviser. He has been a member of the Union of Azerbaijani Writers since 1980, and is an honored art figure and the vice-chairman of the "Azerbaijan Television and Radio" limited company. Suleymanli has won the "Qızıl Qalam“ award of the Union of Azerbaijani Writers, and the All-union literary competition in the name of Maxim Gorky, with his first book published in the Russian language in Moscow. He won the Qızıl Sünbül laureate of the Union of Azerbaijani Writers for "the best work dedicated to rustication". "Araz “ high literary award owing to his achievement in the field of fictional and non-fictional publicity, ANASAM award certificate owing to "Departation“ novel and the best work of the year, estimation award of "Anadolu Conference".
