S. Swarnajothi was the 38th Auditor General of Sri Lanka. He was appointed on 3 January 2007, succeeding P. A. Pematilaka. He was succeeded by H. A. S. Samaraweera. Swarnajothi serves on the Board of Directors of Commercial Bank since 20 August 2012. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and a Fellow of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka and also a member of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Australia. The Auditor General of Sri Lanka is appointed by the President to aid accountability by conducting independent audits of government operations. These audits provide members of Parliament with objective information to help them examine the government's activities and hold it to account. According to the constitution, the Auditor General is empowered to audit the accounts of all departments of Government, the Offices of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Judicial Service Commission, the Public Service Commission, the Parliamentary Commissioner for Administration, the Secretary-General of Parliament and the Commissioner of Elections, local authorities, public corporations and business or other undertakings vested in the Government under any written law.
P. A. Pematilaka was the 37th Auditor General of Sri Lanka. He was appointed on 23 October 2006, succeeding Sarath Chandrasiri Mayadunne, and held the office until 3 January 2007. He was succeeded by S. Swarnajothi.
H. A. S. Samaraweera was the 39th Auditor General of Sri Lanka. He was appointed in 2010, succeeding S. Swarnajothi. He was succeeded by Gamini Wijesinghe

The International Accounting Standards Committee (IASC) was founded in June 1973 in London and was replaced by the International Accounting Standards Board on 1 April 2001. It was responsible for developing the International Accounting Standards and promoting the use and application of these standards.
Chartered accountants were the first accountants to form a professional accounting body, initially established in Scotland in 1854. The Edinburgh Society of Accountants (1854), the Glasgow Institute of Accountants and Actuaries (1854) and the Aberdeen Society of Accountants (1867) were each granted a royal charter almost from their inception. The title is an internationally recognised professional designation; the certified public accountant designation is generally equivalent to it.
The Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI), previously known as The Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India (ICWAI), is a premier statutory professional accountancy body in India with the objects of promoting, regulating and developing the profession of Cost & Management Accountancy. It is the only licensing cum regulating body of Cost & Management Accountancy profession in India. It recommends the Cost Accounting Standards to be followed by companies in India to which statutory maintenance of cost records applicable. ICMAI is solely responsible for setting the auditing and assurance standards for statutory Cost Audit to be followed in the Audit of Cost statements in India. It also issues other technical guidelines on several aspects like Internal Audit, Management Accounting etc. to be followed by practising Cost Accountants while discharging their services. It works closely with the industries, various departments of Government of India, State governments in India and other Regulating Authorities in India e.g. Reserve Bank of India, Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority, Securities and Exchange Board of India etc. on several aspects of performance, cost optimisation and reporting.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka is a professional accountancy body in Sri Lanka. The Institute was established by Act of Parliament, No. 23 of 1959 as the sole organisation in Sri Lanka with the right to awarding the Chartered Accountant designation. The Institute is responsible for setting Accounting and Auditing Standards in Sri Lanka, and is considered the National Body of Accountants' in the country.

S. M. Sabry was the 35th Auditor General of Sri Lanka. He was appointed on 26 January 1993, succeeding W. Gamini Epa, and held the office until 13 August 2000. He was succeeded by Sarath Chandrasiri Mayadunne.
Sarath Chandrasiri Mayadunne is Sri Lankan civil servant and politician. He was the 36th Auditor General of Sri Lanka and was appointed to the Parliament of Sri Lanka in 2015.

H. M. Gamini Wijesinghe is the 40th and current Auditor General of Sri Lanka. He was appointed on 27 November 2015, succeeding H. A. S. Samaraweera. He previously held the office of Director General of the Sri Lanka Accounting and Auditing Standers Monitoring Board. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka.
The Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka, is a professional body offering qualification in management accountancy in Sri Lanka.
The Accounting in Sri Lanka is regulated under the several legal regulations. There are several professional accountancy body in the country. The Sri Lanka Accounting and Auditing Standards Monitoring Board (SLAASMB) is the audit oversight entity, while the Auditor General of Sri Lanka has audit oversight over government all entities.
