SBRR Mahajana First Grade College (Autonomous) Jayalakshmipuram, Mysore is a College with Potential for Excellence [3] accredited A Grade by N.A.A.C. (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) [4] during its 3rd Cycle and affiliated to University of Mysore. [5] The college was founded in 1982 as a women's college offering B.A. & B.Com. courses. It was admitted to the grant-in-aid in 1987 and in 1988 became a co-educational institution. B.Sc. course was introduced in 1989, BBM course & Bio-technology, Biochemistry & Microbiology combination in B.Sc. [6] were added in 1994 & 2004 respectively. BCA course was introduced in 2009. The College has applied for Autonomy and got the Autonomous status in 2019 from Mysore University. [7] [8] [9] [10] [11]
Two boys were kidnapped on 8 June 2011 from the college premises and murdered by members of Karnataka Forum for Dignity, who sought ransom of 5 crore rupees. [12] [13] [14] [15]
The University of Mysore is a public state university in Mysore, Karnataka, India. The university was founded during the reign of Krishnaraja Wadiyar IV, the Maharaja of Mysore. The university is recognised by the University Grants Commission for offering higher studies degree courses on-campus as well as online. It was inaugurated on 27 July 1916. Its first chancellor was the Maharaja of Mysore; the first Vice-Chancellor was H. V. Nanjundaiah. The university became the first outside of British administration in India, the sixth in India as a whole, and the first in Karnataka. It is a state university of the affiliating type, and became autonomous on 3 March 1956, when it gained recognition from the University Grants Commission.

Sree Sankara College was founded in the year 1954 by Swami Agamananda, a social reformer and a foresighted scholar of Sri Ramakrishna Advaita Ashram. The institution was established with a view to perpetuating the memory and doctrines of the great saint and philosopher, Adi Sankaracharya and to nurture his birthplace as a cultural citadel. The foundation stone was laid on 28 August 1953 by the Maharaja of Travancore in the presence of the Maharaja of Cochin and several other distinguished personalities. The Sree Sankara College Association was formed in July 1954.

St. Paul's College, Kalamassery located at Kochi was founded by Joseph Attipetty, the late Archbishop of Verapoly to commemorate the historic visit of Pope Paul VI to India in connection with the 38th International Eucharistic Congress held in November - December 1964. The foundation stone of the college was blessed by the pope on 3 December 1964 and was solemnly laid by Samuel Mathai, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kerala in the presence of Joseph Attipetty on 13 February 1965. Out of his filial devotion to the Pope, the founder desired that the college be named after the Apostle Paul, the patron saint of the Pope.
