Sociedad Deportiva Narcea is a Spanish football club based in Cangas del Narcea, in the autonomous community of Asturias.

Cangas del Narcea Municipality in Asturias, Spain

Cangas del Narcea is the oldest municipality in the Principality of Asturias in Spain. It is also the largest municipality in Asturias. It is in the southwest of Asturias, on the Asturian border with León. Formerly, Cangas del Narcea was known as Cangas de Tineo . Cangas del Narcea is also the name of the municipality's capital, and one of the judicial districts in Asturias.

History

Founded in 1962, Narcea played always in Regional leagues until its first promotion to Tercera División in 1996. After six seasons in two streaks, the club declined and came back to the sixth tier.

Tercera División is the fourth level of the Spanish football league system. The top three are the Primera División, often referred to as "La Liga" in English, the Segunda División, and Segunda División B.

Stadium

Narcea plays its home games at Estadio El Reguerón, with a capacity for 1,200 spectators. In 2006, the pitch was replaced by one made of artificial turf and floodlights were installed. [1]

The 2017 Vuelta a Asturias was the 60th edition of the Vuelta a Asturias cycling stage race, that took place over three stages from 29 April to 1 May 2017. It was held as part of the 2017 UCI Europe Tour. The defending champion was Hugh Carthy, but Carthy did not defend his title as he had moved to the Cannondale–Drapac squad that was not invited to the race.
