SMK Bahang has eight science labs; from Chemistry, Biology to Physics. There are two teacher's office. One located at Block A, and the other in Block C.
As of 2023, many renovations and new constructions were made by principal Haji Mohamad Al-Beari Haji Binsin, which are listed below:
Overall, many rooms were transferred to different blocks, such as the library to Block A.
On 31 December 2004, SMK Bahang had a tragedy where the highest floor of block A caught on fire. Prior to that, the school had another fire in 2002. [1] This however, did not stop the school session of 2005. Computer labs, science labs and school canteens were used for teaching and learning process, even as far as starting their sessions 200 meters away in SK Bahang Penampang for Form 3.
The sport houses, also known as rumah sukan are named after the colour of multiple gemstones. Previously, SMK Bahang had six houses, but over time the school has opted to abolish two of these houses, namely Mutiara (orange) and Kristal (purple).
The four houses would typically compete against each other on sports day in Kompleks Sukan Penampang, Donggongon. However, in recent years, the school has steered towards a more open side to host school events beyond its immediate vicinity. This shift was evident in 2023 when the sports day took place at the Kompleks Sukan Likas, marking a departure from the usual venue.
The school sport houses are as follow:
Kami Anak Warisan
Kami anak warisan,
Harapan bangsa dan negara,
Berusaha dan berjaya,
Menuju cita-cita.
SMK Bahang Penampang,
Sekolah kami yang tercinta,
Bersama para pendidik,
Menuju kejayaan.
Kami usaha, kami berjaya,
Berpandukan Rukun Negara,
Cogan kata kami yang indah,
Memberikan semangat waja.
Bersama berpimpin tangan,
Menentang segala rintangan,
Disiplin pegangan kami,
Berjaya selamanya.
Disiplin pegangan kami,
Berjaya selamanya.
