Sree Moola Vilasam Government Model Higher Secondary School (popularly known as SMV School) is one among the oldest Schools in Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) Established by Travancore Maharaja for English Education.
Sree Moola Vilasom Government Model Higher Secondary School, one of the best Schools in Trivandrum. This school was built by Tranvancore Maharaja Sree Swathi Thirunal and is one of the oldest school in Kerala Established in 1836. The buildings of the school was once used as the Commissioner Office. The fine architecture of British is one of its kind that provides natural aeration and lighting.
The school has an active National Service Scheme unit which is the best unit in Trivandrum which initiates social activities. The unit has also won the award of the state government for the best NSS unit of the city.
The position of the school near the downtown helps the people from all parts of the city.
In June 2023, the government changed the school from boys-only to mixed.

The Kingdom of Travancore, also known as the Kingdom of Thiruvithamkoor or later as Travancore State, was an Indian kingdom that lasted from c. 1729 until 1949. Nedumangad is a municipal town in the Thiruvananthapuram district in the Indian state of Kerala. It is the headquarters of Nedumangad Tehsil and Nedumangad Revenue Division. It is a suburb of the extended metropolitan region of Thiruvananthapuram. It is located around 16 km (9.9 mi) to the north-east of Thiruvananthapuram on the State Highway 2. It is an important commercial center in the district. It is a growing commercial and educational hub and all important government institutions are situated in the town. The Nedumangadu market has significance in southern Kerala.
University of Kerala, formerly the University of Travancore, is a state-run public university in Thiruvananthapuram, the state capital of Kerala, India. It was established in 1937 by a promulgation of the Maharajah of Travancore, Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma who was also the first Chancellor of the university. C. P. T. N. Gopinathan Nair, was an Indian dramatist, novelist, poet, screenwriter and biographer of Malayalam language. One of the prolific among Malayalam playwrights, Nair published 39 plays, besides his four novels, four poetry anthologies and five biographies. He was a member of the council of Kerala Sahitya Akademi and held the char of the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi. His drama, Pareeksha, received the Vikraman Nair Trophy for the best drama and the Kerala Sahitya Akademi selected his work, Sakshi, for their annual award for drama in 1979.
