Saba Imtiaz is a Pakistani author, journalist, music critic, and screenwriter from Karachi. She previously worked for The News International and The Express Tribune , and is currently writing for The New York Times , The Guardian , [1] and The Christian Science Monitor . Karachi, You're Killing Me! is her debut novel first published in 2014. Imtiaz also wrote the script of the romantic comedy Dekh Magar Pyar Se (2015).

Career

Imtiaz started her career as a freelance journalist and column writer. She had worked for various newspapers like The News International and The Express Tribune before she started writing for The New York Times , The Guardian , and The Christian Science Monitor . [2] [3]

Imtiaz is also a music critic and wrote several articles on music, especially Coke Studio. [4] [5]

Karachi, You're Killing Me!

Imtiaz is the author of the comedy crime novel Karachi, You're Killing Me! , which was released on February 1, 2014 by the Random House India. The book was mostly positively reviewed . [6] The novel is about a 28-year-old reporter, Ayesha Khan, living in one of the world's most dangerous cities, Karachi, and her misadventures and her efforts to find a nice lover. In April 2015, India's Abundantia Entertainment acquired the Bollywood film rights to the novel, which Vikram Malhotra would produce. Imtiaz would also be involved in developing the screenplay. No Team of Angels

Imtiaz has written her second novel No Team of Angels, about the conflict in Karachi. [8] The novel is not yet published. [9]

Film career

Imtiaz is also a screenwriter, her debut script was Dekh Magar Pyar Se , which was made into a film and was directed by Asad ul Haq, starring Humaima Malick and Sikander Rizvi. [10] The film was released on August 14, 2015, and was commercial success, though it received mixed reviews from critics. [11]

As of 2016, Imtiaz has developed the script of Noor , a Bollywood adaptation of her own novel Karachi, You're Killing Me!. Produced by Bhushan Kumar and starring Sonakshi Sinha in the lead, the film is set for April 2017 release. [7] [12]

Karachi, You're Killing Me! is a 2014 comedy crime-thriller novel by the Pakistani journalist-writer Saba Imtiaz. The author's debut novel was released in paperback by India's Random House on 1 February 2014. It is written about a 20-year-old reporter, Ayesha Khan, living in one of the world's most beautiful cities, Karachi, about her misadventures and finding a nice lover. The novel received mostly positive feedback from the reviewers. Imtiaz describes the novel as "Bridget Jones's Diary" meets "The Diary of a Social Butterfly." In 2015, the novel was optioned by producer Vikram Malhotra for a Bollywood film adaptation.

<i>Lahore Se Aagey</i> 2016 film by Wajahat Rauf

Lahore Se Aagey is a 2016 Pakistani road-comedy romantic film directed by Wajahat Rauf, written by Yasir Hussain and Produced by Wajahat Rauf, Asfand Faruok, Salman Iqbal, and Jarjees Seja. The film is a spin-off to 2015 comedy film Karachi Se Lahore and second installment in Karachi Lahore film series. It features an all star cast, including Hussain along with Saba Qamar, Behroze Sabzwari, Abdullah Farhatullah, Mubashir Malik, Atiqa Odho, Rubina Ashraf and Noor ul Hasan. Noor is a 2017 Indian Hindi-language dramedy film directed by Sunhil Sippy that features Sonakshi Sinha in the title role. The film is based on Pakistani author Saba Imtiaz's novel Karachi, You're Killing Me! and follows an Indian journalist-writer Noor's misadventures and love life as she navigates her way through Mumbai. The film had a worldwide release on 21 April 2017.

Soch is a pop and sufi rock band from Lahore, Pakistan. It consists of two members – Adnan Dhool (vocals) and Rabi Ahmad (guitars). The band was formed by the lead vocalist Adnan Dhool in 2010. In 2011, the band released their first single "Bandeya".
