Sadarghat Bridge [1] is a bridge in Silchar city of Assam, India, which crosses the Barak River. This bridge is the only bridge built on the Barak River in Silchar city. The bridge is the only way to reach Kumbhirgram Airport, Silchar from Silchar.

The Surma-Meghna River System is a river complex in the Indian Subcontinent, one of the three that form the Ganges Delta, the largest on earth. Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH), established in 1968, is a government-run medical college cum hospital in Silchar in southern Assam, one of the oldest medical college of North East India. It is the only referral hospital in the southern part of Assam, also referred to as the Barak Valley, and serves neighbouring states including Mizoram, North Tripura, West Manipur and South Meghalaya.
The Bengali Language Movement of Barak Valley, Assam was a protest against the decision of the Government of Assam to make Assamese the only sole official language of the state even though knowing that a major proportion of Barak Valley population speaks Bangla language as about 80% of the Valley's residents are Bengalis. In the Barak Valley region, the Bengali population consisting of both Hindus and Muslims who are almost equal in population and constitute overwhelming majority of the population with substainable minority of tribals and immigrants from other parts of India. The main incident took place on 19 May 1961 at Silchar railway station in which 11 Bengalis were killed by Assam police.

As of now, 170 stations across India are directly connected to Silchar railway station.
