Saddi Washington (born July 30, 1975) is an American college basketball coach and former player. He currently serves as a men's basketball assistant coach for the Michigan State basketball team. [1] [2] He played college basketball at Western Michigan. Before becoming a collegiate assistant coach, he was a volunteer coach at Romulus Senior High School under current Alabama head coach Nate Oats.
Washington attended Sexton High School, where he was a four-year letter winner in basketball and track, receiving all-state recognition in both sports in 1993. Following his high school career, he went on to start at Western Michigan. In 1994, he made the Mid-American Conference (MAC) All-Freshman team after scoring 14 points per game. He was a two-time All-MAC recipient in his career, including a first-team selection in 1998. He graduated with a double major in business management and marketing. [3]
After graduation, Washington signed with the Utah Jazz and attended training camp in 1998. He attended training camps with Utah (1998 and 1999), the Denver Nuggets (2001) and the Atlanta Hawks (2004). Washington, however, never played a regular season game in the National Basketball Association. [4]
Washington started his coaching career by volunteering at Romulus Senior High School under current Alabama head coach Nate Oats. The team went 18–8 in 2005 with an 8–4 conference record. The season was lackluster compared to the previous season, where they had won a state championship. [5]
In 2006, Washington joined longtime Oakland head coach Greg Kampe's basketball staff as an assistant. The team had a winning season every year from the year he got there, 2006, to 2012. On September 3, 2013, Washington was promoted to Associate Head Coach. From 2013 to 2015, the team improved on every single year. [6]
On May 4, 2016, Washington was announced as a new assistant coach on the Michigan basketball staff under former head coach John Beilein. [7] [8] He was responsible for coaching the big men, including Moritz Wagner and D. J. Wilson whom both became NBA first-round picks. He was retained under new head coach Juwan Howard in 2019.
In December 2020, Washington became the top ranked recruiter in the class of 2021 according to 247Sports Composite ranking for his involvement in the recruitment of five-star Michigan signees Moussa Diabaté and Caleb Houstan, along with four-star in-state Top100 Kobe Bufkin and Top100 point guard Frankie Collins. On April 8, 2024, it was announced that Washington would not return to Michigan under new head coach Dusty May. [10]
On June 5, 2024, Washington joined Michigan State as an assistant coach under Tom Izzo. [11] [12]
He is married to Dr. Channon Washington and has two children, Sidney and Caleb. Sidney competed two seasons at University of Pittsburgh Panthers as a member of their women's gymnastics team. She transferred to The Ohio State University and will compete with the Buckeyes for her final two years. [13]
Lloyd Henry Carr Jr. is a former American football player and coach. He served as the head football coach at the University of Michigan from 1995 through the 2007 season, replacing Gary Moeller. Under Carr, the Michigan Wolverines compiled a record of 122–40 and won or shared five Big Ten Conference titles. Carr's undefeated 1997 team was declared the national champion by the Associated Press. His record coaching against top ten-ranked opponents was 20–8. Carr was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a coach in 2011.
Gregory Russell Paulus is an American basketball coach and former player who is the head coach of the Niagara Purple Eagles men's basketball team. He previously served as an assistant basketball coach for Louisville, Ohio State and George Washington University. Paulus is a former multi-sport athlete, playing college basketball as a point guard on the Duke University men's team and later football at Syracuse University.

John Patrick Beilein is an American professional basketball coach who currently serves as a college basketball analyst for the Big Ten Network. Before being hired by the Big Ten Network, Beilein served as the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Prior to joining the Cavaliers, he coached the Michigan Wolverines (2007–2019), West Virginia Mountaineers (2002–2007), Richmond Spiders (1997–2002), Canisius Golden Griffins (1992–1997) in NCAA Division I as well as the Le Moyne Dolphins (1983–1992), Nazareth College (1982–1983) and Erie Community College (1978–1982). Beilein has won 754 career games at four-year universities and 829 games altogether, including those at the junior college level. Beilein's overall career wins counting the time spent in Cleveland is 843 games.
Dane Fife is an American former college basketball player and assistant coach. Fife is the former head coach of the Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) Mastodons men's basketball team and a former college assistant coach at Michigan State University under Tom Izzo for ten years before leaving to become an assistant coach at his alma mater, Indiana University. He was let go by Indiana after one season.
Romulus Senior High School or Romulus High School is the public high school in the city of Romulus, Michigan in Metro Detroit.
The Michigan State Spartans men's basketball team is the intercollegiate men's basketball program representing Michigan State University. The school competes in the Big Ten Conference of NCAA Division I college basketball. The Spartans have won two NCAA championships and 16 Big Ten Championships. Their home games are played at the Jack Breslin Student Events Center in East Lansing, Michigan. Tom Izzo has been the head coach since 1995.
Jerry Michael Dunn is an American college basketball coach who was most recently the head coach at Tuskegee. Dunn is a former men's basketball assistant coach at the University of Michigan, who held the title of Associate Head Coach. He previously held the same position at West Virginia University, but followed head coach John Beilein to Michigan after the 2006–2007 season. Dunn served as the head coach of Penn State Nittany Lions basketball from 1995 to 2003. His twin brother Terry Dunn was the head coach at Dartmouth Big Green men's basketball from 2004–05 to 2009–10.
The Michigan Wolverines men's basketball team is the intercollegiate men's basketball program representing the University of Michigan. The school competes in the Big Ten Conference in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and play their home games at Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Wolverines have won one NCAA Championship, as well as two National Invitation Tournaments (NIT), 15 Big Ten Conference titles and two Big Ten tournament titles. In addition, Michigan won an NIT title and a Big Ten tournament that were vacated due to NCAA sanctions.

Bacari Torrell Alexander is an American college basketball coach, formerly the men's basketball head coach at Detroit Mercy. He is a former assistant coach at Michigan, Western Michigan, Ohio, and Detroit Mercy. At Michigan, Alexander was responsible for coaching the team's post players, developing defensive strategies, scouting opponents and on-court coaching. In six seasons as an assistant coach under Michigan head coach John Beilein, Michigan advanced to the NCAA tournament each year, won Big Ten Conference regular season championships in 2012 and 2014 and appeared in the Elite 8 in 2014 and the National Championship in 2013.

The 2016–17 Michigan Wolverines men's basketball team represented the University of Michigan during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Wolverines, led by head coach John Beilein in his tenth year, played their home games for the 50th consecutive year at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This season marked the program's 101st season and its 100th consecutive year as a member of the Big Ten Conference. The team earned the 2017 Big Ten Conference tournament championship and reached the Sweet Sixteen round of the 2017 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament.
