The Safe Surrey Coalition is a civic political party in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada.
In the municipal election held on 20 October 2018, the party won all but one seat on the Surrey City Council. That other seat was won by Linda Annis of the Surrey First party. [1] In the municipal election held on 15 October 2022, the party lost all but two seats in the Surrey City Council to both Surrey Connect and Surrey First who both campaigned against the dissolution of the Surrey RCMP in favor of the now-cancelled Surrey Police Service. [2]

Liverpool City Council is the governing body for the city of Liverpool in Merseyside, England. It consists of 85 councillors, for the city's 64 wards. Following a review by the Local Government Boundary Commission the number of wards increased to 64 at the elections on Thursday 4th May 2023. Three wards elect 3 councillors each, fifteen wards elect 2 councillors each and the remaining 46 wards each elect a single councillor, which brought down the total number of councillors to 85.

Doug McCallum is a Canadian politician who was mayor of Surrey, British Columbia, from 1996 to 2005 and from 2018 to 2022. McCallum was first elected to a seat on Surrey City Council in 1993. During this term he served as Chair of the Finance Committee and sat as a member of the Parks and Recreation Commission and the Library Board. He was re-elected in the October 20, 2018 local elections in British Columbia. He was defeated in the 2022 election.
Dianne Lynn Watts is a former politician in British Columbia, Canada. She won her first federal election campaign in October 2015 to become a federal Member of Parliament for South Surrey—White Rock. In 2017 she resigned as MP to pursue a failed leadership bid for the BC Liberal provincial party. Previously, Watts served as the mayor of Surrey, the second-largest city in the province from 2005 to 2014. She was elected in 2005 to this office as the city's first female mayor.
Gordon "Gordie" Hogg is a Canadian politician who served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for South Surrey—White Rock in the House of Commons of Canada from 2017 to 2019, as a member of the Liberal Party of Canada. He previously represented Surrey-White Rock in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia from 1997 to 2017 as part of the British Columbia Liberal Party caucus, serving in several cabinet positions under Premier Gordon Campbell during that time, and was the mayor of White Rock, British Columbia, from 1984 to 1993.

She represented the electoral district of Surrey-Green Timbers as a member of the BC Liberal party. In 2022, Locke was elected as mayor of Surrey, defeating Doug McCallum.

The Surrey Light Rail system was a planned 10.5-kilometre (6.5 mi) network in Surrey, British Columbia containing one light rail line radiating from the Surrey Central SkyTrain station and transit hub. First proposed in 2012 by Surrey mayor Dianne Watts, construction on the project was planned to start in 2019 with an opening date set for 2024. At the inauguration of the new Surrey City Council on November 5, 2018, and after a change of municipal leadership, the newly installed council unanimously voted to "indefinitely suspend" the project in favour of an extension of the SkyTrain Expo Line to Langley Centre.

The council of the City of Cape Town in the Western Cape, South Africa is elected every five years by a system of mixed-member proportional representation.
