Saharghat is a semi urban panchayat in Madhwapur block of Madhubani district in Mithila region of Bihar, India. [1] [2] It is connected by National Highway 104 and State Highway 75 [3] with different parts of the major cities in the state of Bihar, [4] India and Madhesh Pradesh province of Nepal. [5] [6] The village comes under Harlakhi Assembly constituency and Madhubani Lok Sabha constituency. [7] [8]

Geography

Saharghat is around 40 km from the district headquarters town. It is approximately 10 km from the headquarters of Madhwapur block. It is located near the Indo Nepal border sub custum office Pipraun. The nearby villages are Baswariya, Utara, Bangara, Pakdasham, Vishanpur, Trimuhan, Loma, Pahipura, Salempur and Basuki Bihari. [9] [10]

Description

The market areas of the village is situated near the bank of Dhaunsh river flowing through the village. [11] The law and order of the village is maintained by Saharghat Police Station. [9] The important landmarks of the village are Netaji Subhash Chowk, Saharghat Bridge, Ramjanaki Chowk and Basbariya Chowk, etc. [12] [13] [14]

Pancheshwar Nath Mahadev Mandir is a Hindu temple of Shiva in Madhwapur block of Madhubani district in Mithila region of Bihar. An annual four day Ganesh Puja festival is organised by Ganesh Puja Samiti at the temple. An annual Durga Puja festival has been held since 1954, and is organised by Durga Puja Samiti. In the month of Sawan, local residents do Jalabhisheka on the Shivling of the temple every Monday. The devotees of Sawan Sombari pilgrimage carry the holy water from the Uttarvahini Dhouns River at Matihani in the neighbouring country Nepal.

Bari Path is a road in Patna, the capital of Bihar. It was named after Professor Abdul Bari in 1948 after his murder in Khusrupur, Patna. Bari House was situated on this road. Mahatma Gandhi came to Bari House on 29 March 1947, the day after Bari's death. It connects Gandhi Chowk to Gandhi Maidan, runs parallel to Ashok Rajpath. The village is connected to the Indo-Nepal border connecting road National Highway number 104 by an approach road at the Saharghat village of Madhwapur block. The village is only 3 kms distance from the headquarter of the Madhwapur block in Madhubani district of Bihar. There is a destroyed wooden bridge in the village built during the British rule to connect the village with the nearest market village Saharghat. Local BJP leader and MLC Ghanshyam Thakur raised the issue of the destroyed wood bridge in the session of Legislative Council of Bihar state in India.

Sanjeev Kumar is an Indian politician from Bihar. He is a member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly. He won from Parbatta Assembly constituency in Khagaria district representing Janata Dal (United) in the 2020 Bihar Legislative Assembly election.

It is a perennial river that originates in the Himalayan range of Nepal and merges with Dhouns river at Akharharghat in the Indian states of Bihar.
