The Saint Bernard Church (Dutch: Sint-Bernarduskerk) is a Roman Catholic church building in Ubachsberg, Voerendaal, Netherlands. [1] Patron saint for the church is Bernard of Clairvaux. The church is a national monument of the Netherlands. [2]
The church is located southwest of the main road through the village of Ubachsberg, the Kerkstraat, which connects Huls in the east, with Voerendaal in the north-west. South of the church is the Bernardussquare. East and south of the church is the cemetery. The building consists of a build in bell tower in the west, a nave with a single aisle, a transept and a choir. The church is partially made up out of red bricks and partially out of Kunradersteen, a local variant of chalk.
The nave and tower were built in 1841 to a design by Jean Dumoulin. That same year Ubachsberg became an independent parish. Before this time Ubachsberg was part of the parish of St. Laurentius in Voerendaal.
In 1924 the church was expanded to a design by architect Beursgens from Sittard. A transept and a choir in Neo-Roman style were added.
The church has been listed as a rijksmonument since 8 January 1969, making it a national heritage site of the Netherlands. [2]

The James the Greater Church is a Roman Catholic church, located on the Pastoor Neujeanstraat 6 in Bocholtz, Netherlands. First mentioned in the 14th century, the current church was built in 1869 by Pierre Cuypers. It was extended by Harry Koene in 1953, creating a larger choir, and adding an apse and sacristy. The building has been in continues use as a parish church for the Bocholtz saint James the Greater parish since 1873. Huls is a hamlet in the southeastern Netherlands. It is part of the municipality of Simpelveld in the province of Limburg, about 20 km east of Maastricht. The village lies on a hill, north of Simpelveld, and south of Ubachsberg. In 2008 the village had a population of 350 on an area of 0.44 km2. On the hillside south of Huls lies Hulsveld, a hamlet sharing the same name with a population of 1630. Since the hamlets share a single built-up area, and are both located on the hill called Huls, the village Huls is sometimes mistaken to include Hulsveld.
