Haji Sakhi was selected to represent Kunar Province in Afghanistan's Meshrano Jirga, the upper house of its National Legislature, in 2005. [1] A report on Kunar prepared at the Navy Postgraduate School stated that he was "affiliated with Sedaqat". It states he was a college graduate, who sat on the Economics Committee.

Hajji title of honor

Hajji (الحجّي) is a title which is originally given to a Muslim person who has successfully completed the Hajj to Mecca. It is also often used to refer to an elder, since it can take time to accumulate the wealth to fund the travel, and in many Muslim societies as an honorific title for a respected man. The title is placed before a person's name; for example Joshua Omo becomes Hajji Joshua Omo.

The Kunar River passes north through the district and irrigates the surrounding land. The population is 31,000 (2006). The district center, Khas Kunar village is located at 34.6458°N 70.9008°E at 749 m altitude. Most of the houses were destroyed during the wars and the drought also has seriously affected the lands far from the Kunar River.

Al-Haj Sahib Rahman was elected to represent Kunar Province in Afghanistan's Wolesi Jirga, the lower house of its National Legislature, in 2005. He was assassinated by a suicide bomber on November 6, 2007.

Shuja ul-Mulk Jalala, also known as Ghulam Rasul, is a politician in Afghanistan. He is the governor of Kunar Province, appointed by President Hamid Karzai on July 15, 2013 after a suggestion by the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG). Previously, he served as advisor to President Hamid Karzai on tribal affairs.
