Salaam is the fourth official studio album by Sami Yusuf, that was released on December 22, 2012. The physical version was released on December 22, while the digital version was released on December 24. South East Asia and Middle East and North Africa (MENA) received the album before it was released worldwide. [1] He described the album as a musical progression from 2010's Wherever You Are in celebrating "outward multiciplity and inward unity" with an emphasis on peace between people regardless of differences. The album includes a number of songs celebrating Yusuf's Islamic faith. [4] The international release went platinum in South-East Asia and was on best-selling lists in the Middle East and North Africa. [5] The album was released in a special edition for Turkey, including five songs re-recorded by Yusuf in Turkish. [6]

Shakira was initially hesitant to undertake the project, but later decided to learn English well enough to be able to write songs in the language herself. The title of the album was chosen to reflect Shakira's views on love and music. It was also released as Servicio de Lavandería in Hispanic regions in January 2002. Musically, Laundry Service is primarily a pop rock record but it also experiments with a variety of other musical styles, including Andean music, dance-pop, Middle Eastern music, rock and roll and tango music. The lyrical theme of the album is mostly based around love and romance. Every song on the album was written and produced by Shakira under the guidance of Emilio Estefan.
