Saladino's Foodservice is a privately owned foodservice distributor that is based in Fresno, California. They are currently the largest independent food service distributor in California and the 19th largest food service distributor in the United States. [1]
Saladino's was founded in 1944 by Don Saladino.[ citation needed ] Saladino gained experience working in father's grocery store in Fresno, California. [2] Saladino combined his meat packing experience with family recipes from the Calabrese region in Italy to form the Saladino's Sausage Company.[ citation needed ] Initially Saladino focused primarily on distributing sausage products to local grocery stores.[ citation needed ] In 1980, Don's son Craig Saladino, joined the business and they expanded their products to include a wider variety of sausage and meat products while also beginning distribution to local pizzerias and restaurants.[ citation needed ]
In 2001 Saladino's moved to a larger facility located farther north in Fresno.[ citation needed ] Their largest customer, the restaurant chain Subway.[ citation needed ] In 2001, they expanded their operations to include additional warehouses located in Ontario, California, and West Sacramento, California.[ citation needed ]They operate in California, as well as parts of Arizona, Nevada, Idaho , and Oregon.[ citation needed ]
In November 2023, Saladino's Foodservice was acquired by US Foods Holding Corp. [3]
