The Salford Music Festival is an annual festival held each September primarily to promote local artists although artists of all genres from other parts of Britain also perform. It is a not for profit group run by volunteers.
The idea for the festival followed an exhibition organised by Salford Museum and Art Gallery celebrating the history of popular music in Salford entitled Quiffs Riffs and Tiffs [1] which featured notable musicians from Salford: The Hollies to Joy Division to the Ting Tings, many of whom are credited as being from the neighbouring city of Manchester.
The first year was 2010 and about 60 artists and bands performed in 6 venues and was headlined by Salford's Mark E Smith and The Fall. In 2011, the festival grew to 120 bands and 15 DJ's and featured Molotov Jukebox fronted by Harry Potter star Natalia Tena. [2] The main stage event had 4 rooms within the Willows, then home to Salford Rugby League Football Club. Three of the rooms were named after icons of music, two of whom came from Salford: Anthony H Wilson and Bryan Glancy while another paid tribute to John Peel. [3] In 2012, has over 200 bands playing in 18 venues all within the City of Salford. The Fall performed 3 times. The main stage was The Lowry in Salford Quays adjacent to what is now called MediaCityUK to where the BBC recently located. An exhibition of photography of the 2012 Festival "Salford Music Yerrrr!" was held at the Salford Museum and Art Gallery in the Blue Stairs Gallery from August to October 2013. The exhibition was opened by the celebrated Salford artist Harold Riley
In 2013, the number of artists/bands increased to nearly 300 in 25 venues/27 stages. Opening headliner was Ren Harvieu [4]

Most of the events are free and held in pubs and churches across the city conurbation.
In 2013 the festival organisers formed the Salford Music Foundation which is registered as a Nonprofit organization

Alliant Energy Center is a multi-building complex located in unincorporated Madison, Wisconsin. It comprises 164 acres (0.66 km2) of greenspace and includes the 255,000-square-foot (23,700 m2) Exhibition Hall, the 10,000-seat Veterans Memorial Coliseum, the 29-acre (0.12 km2) Willow Island and the 22,000-square-foot (2,000 m2) Arena. After completing various stages of planning throughout 2013, it was announced on November 26 that Dane County would be awarding a $20.7 million contract to Miron Construction for the construction of two new multi-use pavilions at the Alliant Energy Center. The exhibition pavilions, which total 290,000 square feet, will be replacing the nine current agricultural barns. Construction began following the Midwest Horse Fair in April 2014 with completion set in time for the 2014 World Dairy Expo in late September. The Center welcomes more than one million people attending more than 500 events annually, ranging from local meetings and banquets to large sporting events and major concerts.

Rock the Bells was an annual hip-hop festival that originally took place in Southern California only, but has since toured throughout the world. The concert featured a line-up of high-profile alternative hip-hop artists, often headlined by a more mainstream artist. The first festival was held in 2004, featuring a re-united Wu-Tang Clan, who performed four months before Ol' Dirty Bastard's death. Primavera Sound is a music festival that takes place between the end of May and beginning of June in Barcelona, Spain. The first edition took place in 2001 in Poble Espanyol and moved to the Parc del Fòrum, a much larger site on the seafront, in 2005. The nature of the festival and the wide range of bands represented have made Primavera Sound a meeting point for artists and spectators from all generations. In 2012 the festival expanded to Porto, the second biggest city in Portugal under the name NOS Primavera Sound. This one takes place at the Parque da Cidade a week after the Barcelona edition. A spin-off of the festival titled "Primavera a la Ciutat" takes place in selected places in Barcelona from plazas to churches and offers free concerts a couple days prior to the festival's inauguration. A third counterpart of the festival, named Primavera Sound Los Angeles is scheduled to take place at Los Angeles State Historic Park every September starting in 2021.

Splendour in Nottingham is an annual one-day music festival held in Nottingham, England since 2008. Organised by Nottingham City Council and DHP Concerts, the event is held within Wollaton Park, to the west of Nottingham City Centre. The first event was held in 2008 as a two-day event featuring artists Kate Nash, Paolo Nutini, Ocean Color Scene and Rufus Wainwright. In 2019 the capacity of the festival was 25,000.
Le Guess Who? is a Dutch music festival featuring different music genres: from avant-garde, jazz, hip hop, electronic, experimental, noise rock, indie rock, world music and others. The festival, founded by Bob van Heur and Johan Gijsen, has been hosted in the city of Utrecht since 2007. The festival takes place on various venues such as theaters, club venues, churches, galleries and warehouses across the city. The 14th edition of the festival takes place November 11–14, 2021, in the city of Utrecht (Netherlands). It will feature Phil Elverum, Matana Roberts, John Dwyer (musician), Midori Takada and Lucrecia Dalt as curators; the initial line-up includes SPAZA, Bohren & der Club of Gore, Black Country, New Road, Low (band), The Necks and Alabaster dePlume.
The Treefort Music Fest is a five-day, indie rock festival which is held at numerous venues throughout downtown Boise, Idaho in late March. The inaugural 2012 festival took place March 20–23 with the featured acts Built to Spill, The Joy Formidable, and Poliça; the 2015 festival, scheduled March 25–29, featured TV On The Radio, Trampled By Turtles, and Emily Wells, and locals Built to Spill and Josh Ritter. Treefort has been called "the west’s best SXSW alternative" and "Boise's preeminent artistic, cultural and musical happening" which has "morphed from quirky music festival to consuming community event." It has also been characterized as having become a "nationally renowned gathering just by maintaining its personable close-knit vibe" and a "music lover's joyous mayhem" which showcases and amplifies the soul of Boise. Given its track record, by its seventh year Treefort was being hailed as "the greatest music festival in the country" and "an absolute gem of a festival." The 2020 festival was initially postponed until September 23–27 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
