The Salisbury and South Wiltshire Sports Club (also known as the County Ground) is a sports ground in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England, which is used for Hockey, Cricket and other sports.
The club runs Women's and Men's teams and has a flourishing Junior section.
The first recorded cricket match at the ground was in 1854, when South Wiltshire played an All England Eleven. The ground first hosted Wiltshire County Cricket Club in 1888, however the ground hosted its first Minor Counties Championship match seventeen years later when Wiltshire played Hertfordshire in 1905. The ground next hosted Wiltshire's home matches from 1923 to 1949 and then from 1958 to the present day. The ground has also hosted a single MCCA Knockout Trophy match between Wiltshire and Herefordshire.
The ground has also hosted List A matches. The first List-A match played on the ground was between Wiltshire and Scotland in the 2000 NatWest Trophy. The ground has hosted two further List-A matches involving Wiltshire: against Ireland in the 2002 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy, and Kent in the 2005 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy.
In local domestic cricket, the ground is the home of South Wilts Cricket Club who play in the Southern Premier Cricket League. South Wilts have been playing on the main ground since 1854. The second cricket ground was created in 1984 and Salisbury Wanderers played there from 1984 until 2001 where they folded. Since 2001, the second ground has been home of the club's Third and Fourth XI's.
The site has two cricket grounds, an artificial grass pitch (and a full-size grass football pitch).
The first pavilion, a small one-storey building, was built at the Wilton Road ground in 1955 at a cost of £1,000 to accommodate South Wilts Cricket Club and Bemerton Athletic Football Club. This pavilion was closed in 2012, after a long-running fundraising effort for a new clubhouse was completed. The new clubhouse was built with costs rising to £1.2 million. The current clubhouse is a two-storey building that caters for hockey and football in the winter and cricket in the summer. The clubhouse also caters for all Sports Club events, which range from music events to quiz nights.
Bemerton Heath Harlequins Football Club is a football club based in the Bemerton area of Salisbury, Wiltshire, England. Established in 1989 as a merger of Bemerton Athletic, Moon and Bemerton Boys, they are currently members of the Southern League Division One South and play at Moon Park.
Horntye Park Sports Complex is a sports and conference centre in Hastings, East Sussex, England. Primarily known as a cricket ground, the venue also contains a large indoor sports hall, an all-weather pitch used for football and hockey and a series of rooms used for meetings, conferences and weddings. The venue is the former home ground of Hastings & St. Leonards Priory Cricket Club and currently home to South Saxons Hockey Club.
The Saffrons is a multi-purpose sports ground in Eastbourne, East Sussex. The ground is home to Eastbourne Cricket Club, Eastbourne Town Football Club, Eastbourne Hockey Club and Compton Croquet Club. There is also a sand dressed astroturf pitch. The sports ground is located on the edge of Eastbourne town centre, next to the town hall and is in easy reach of local transport links. The ground was first used in 1884. Sussex County Cricket Club played some of their matches there between 1896 and 2000, and recently from 2017.
Vicarage Hill is a cricket ground located in East Challow, Oxfordshire. Situated on the site of a park which has been in existence since the 1890s, the ground is surrounded to the west by the road from which it gets its name, to the south by the Ickleton Road and to the north and east by farmland.
Meggetland Sports Complex, owned by Edinburgh Leisure, is a Sports Pavilion used for a number of International fixtures. Across the five outdoor facilities they hold: 3G Pitch, Astroturf, Football Pitches, Rugby Pitches and Cricket Pitches. They regularly host matches for many clubs and groups, including Boroughmuir Rugby Club, Boroughmuir Hockey Club, Edinburgh Cala Hockey Club, Boroughmuir Thistle Football Club and Boroughmuir Cricket Club. In addition, the ground also hosted three Edinburgh Rugby matches during the 2013–14 Pro 12 season. They hosted Edinburgh against the Ospreys on 28 February, Cardiff Blues on 11 April and Munster on 3 May.
College Grove sports ground is a multi sport facility in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, England. It is owned and run by Wakefield Sports Club Ltd.
The Crabble Athletic Ground, also known as simply Crabble, or The Crabble is a football stadium located in the northern Dover suburb of River, Kent. It was the home of the various incarnations of Dover F.C. from 1931 until the club folded in 1983. Since then it has been the home of Dover Athletic F.C., and it was also the temporary home of Margate F.C. between 2002 and 2004, when the club's Hartsdown Park stadium was being redeveloped. The stadium has two seated stands and two covered terraces and holds a total of 5,745 fans, although in the past, crowds larger than that figure could be accommodated. It also has a clubhouse, which the club completely redeveloped in 2008.
Highfield is a cricket ground in Leek, Staffordshire. The ground is located just outside of the town along the Macclesfield Road, which itself forms part of the A523 Road. It has played host to List A and Twenty20 matches for Derbyshire County Cricket Club, in addition to playing host to Staffordshire County Cricket Club in minor counties cricket.
Cheriton Road is a complex of sports grounds at Folkestone in the English county of Kent. The complex includes football pitches, a cricket ground, hockey pitches, netball courts and an indoor sports facility. It includes the home ground of Folkestone Invicta F.C., known as The Alcaline Stadium for sponsorship reasons, and the Three Hills Sports Park which includes the home grounds of Folkestone Cricket Club and Folkestone Optimist Hockey Club. The cricket ground, which was previously called the Cheriton Road Sports Ground, was used by Kent County Cricket Club for top level cricket matches.
The Quarters is a cricket ground located off Hursley Park Road in the grounds of the former Hursley Park Estate at Hursley, Hampshire, England. Set in rural surroundings, the ground is surrounded by open countryside on all sides, with the north and east sides also being bordered by trees and a small woodland. The southern end is bordered by a small stream. The north east corner houses the older pavilion, while the north west corner houses a new pavilion. The ground includes two fields and in turn two bowling squares.
The County Ground is a cricket ground in Swindon, Wiltshire. The ground is located to the north of the County Football Ground used by Swindon Town. It has played host to first-class and List A cricket matches, in addition to playing host to Wiltshire County Cricket Club in minor counties cricket.
Sonning Lane is a cricket and hockey ground in Sonning near Reading, Berkshire, England. It is located on a road called Sonning Lane between the A4 road and the village of Sonning, hence the name.
North Perrott Cricket Club Ground is a former List A cricket ground located in North Perrott, Somerset. It hosted a single Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy match in 2001 between Somerset Cricket Board and Wales Minor Counties. The ground has also been used by Somerset County Cricket Club and Board for numerous other matches. It has also hosted the Somerset women's cricket team occasionally since 2005. The ground is home to North Perrott Cricket Club, and has been since its creation in 1946.
Trowbridge Cricket Club Ground is a cricket ground in Trowbridge, Wiltshire. The ground is the main home ground of Wiltshire County Cricket Club. The ground is made up of 2 full size cricket pitches, 2 huts used for scoring, artificial pitches with cricket nets, a car park and a pavilion.
Lindum Sports Club Ground is a cricket ground in Lincoln, Lincolnshire. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1861, when Lincolnshire played an All-England Eleven. Lincolnshire played their first Minor Counties Championship match at the ground in 1907 against Staffordshire. Lincolnshire used the ground during a number of periods during the 21st century, playing their final Minor Counties Championship match at the ground in 2000 against Cumberland. The first MCCA Knockout Trophy watch played the ground saw Lincolnshire play Bedfordshire in 1996. From 1996 to 2007, the ground held 4 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches, with the final match played on the ground to date against Lincolnshire and Staffordshire.
Parkgate Cricket Ground is a cricket ground in Station Road, Parkgate, Cheshire. The ground, which is situated close to the bank of the River Dee, is mostly surrounded by residential housing. The site is fairly large, with two cricket pitches, lawn tennis courts, all weather floodlit tennis courts, lawn bowls, boules, 3 squash courts and a full floodlit AstroTurf field hockey pitch. It is used by Neston Cricket Club and Neston Hockey Club. The club also has representative Tennis, Squash and Racquetball teams.
Moss Lane is a cricket ground in Moss Lane, Alderley Edge, Cheshire. The ground is surrounded on all four sides by residential housing. The ground is used by Alderley Edge Cricket Club. It is also a venue for tennis, squash and field hockey.
