SallyAnn Salsano (born c. 1974) is an American television producer. Her company, 495 Productions, has produced several television reality shows for MTV and syndication, including Jersey Shore and The Real .

Biography

Salsano was raised in Farmingdale, New York, [1] on Long Island, and graduated from Farmingdale High School in 1992. [2] She named her company for Interstate 495 on Long Island. [3] In 1996 she was a finalist for MTV's The Real World: Miami . [4]

Salsano attended the University of Missouri. [5] She started her career as an intern for TV and radio personalities Howard Stern and Sally Jessy Raphael, then worked in various producer capacities on The Bachelor , The Bachelorette , Trista & Ryan's Wedding, Extreme Makeover: Wedding Edition, and Surprise Weddings I & II. [3] In 2006 she launched 495 Productions, [3] which is based in Burbank, California. [6] It produces several television reality shows for MTV, including Jersey Shore .

As Salsano has described herself, "I'm an Italian girl from Long Island, my dad worked in sanitation, both of my parents drive Cadillacs, my dad wears a diamond-encrusted New York Yankees symbol around his neck. It doesn't get more guido than in my house." [4] She said that she spent several summers at the New Jersey shore growing up, saying, "I was Snooki. I woke up and was like, 'Oh, that was a crazy night.' That's what you do." [4]

A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila is an American reality television dating game show similar to the TV show The Bachelor. It premiered on October 9, 2007 on MTV starring Tila Tequila. The series consists of a bisexual-themed reality dating show where 16 heterosexual male men and 16 lesbian female women contestants live in Tequila's house and compete for her attention and affection. The contestants were not aware of Tequila's bisexuality until the end of the first episode, after ten contestants had been eliminated. The remaining contestants, both male and female, then shared the same home for the remainder of the series. A Shot at Love II premiered on April 22, 2008.

Jersey Shore is a reality television series that aired on MTV. It follows eight housemates while they live, work and party at the Jersey Shore. The show made its debut amid large amounts of controversy regarding the use of the words "guido/guidette", portrayals of Italian-American stereotypes as well as perpetuating stereotypes of New Jerseyans, especially because the cast members are not residents from the area. It premiered in December 2009 and ran through 2012.

Friendzone is a dating/relationship reality television series produced by 495 Productions and airing on MTV. The show follows people who have romantic feelings for one of their friends. Sally Ann Salsano created the show based upon one of her personal experiences. The theme song is "Two Hearts" by Keegan DeWitt. The show ended on December 2, 2014.

From 1981 through 2014, MTV aired New Year's Eve specials. The special was first held in 1981 as MTV's New Year's Eve Rock N' Roll Ball, which featured a concert from the Hotel Diplomat in mid-Manhattan featuring Bow Wow Wow, Karla DeVito, and David Johansen. For its early editions, the Rock N' Roll Ball was hosted by MTV VJs; the 1986–87 edition would instead be hosted by Joe Piscopo and carry an Ancient Rome theme.
