Salman Aslam Butt is a Lahore based lawyer &advisor,who was born &grew up in Lahore. He was appointed as the 31st Attorney General for Pakistan [1] in 2014 and represented Nawaz Sharif Government. He also presented Nawaz Sharif in the Panama case.
He was born in Lahore and completed his education also in Lahore. After graduation,he was admitted in Punjab University Law College and earned a Law Degree of LL.B. before moving to London to complete his LL.M. from the University of London. He joined the legal profession in 1982. He is senior Partner of M/s Cornelius,Lane &Mufti (CLM) [2] the oldest Law Firm in Pakistan. [3]
Salman was appointed as the 31st Attorney General for Pakistan after the election of 2013 and remained there till 2016 when he resigned. He appeared in the Supreme Court of Pakistan to represent Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the famous Panama case [4] in which at subsequent stages of the case and after his resignation, [5] Nawaz Sharif was declared disqualified from the office of Prime Minister by the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Malik Mohammad Qayyum was a Pakistani lawyer who was Senior Advocate Supreme Court and Attorney General of Pakistan. He was replaced by Senator Latif Khosa when President Pervez Musharraf resigned on 18 August 2008. He became Attorney General following the resignation of Makhdoom Ali Khan. He was a Judge of the Lahore High Court,which he resigned from after a phone transcript of his was released in which he was alleged to be approached by the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's government to fix judgement in a case before him involving Benazir Bhutto. Qayyum denied that the voice in the telephone conversation was his. Agencies have examined the tapes and have expressed their concern that they could have been doctored although no final verdict is available.
Khawaja Muhammad Asif is a Pakistani politician who served as the Defence Minister of Pakistan from April 2022 till August 2023. He had also been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from August 2018 till August 2023.
