Sam Maris University (SMU) is a private university located in Supare Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria. The university's main campus and lecture theaters are situated there. The National Universities Commission (NUC) has accredited the university to offer programs in the Faculties: of Law, Nursing Sciences and Allied Sciences, Social Sciences and Management Sciences, and Computer and Environmental Sciences. The university has matriculated its first set of students.
The university was established on 15 May 2023. The university's motto is 'Liberty, Truth, and Knowledge'. The university is a private university in the Akoko region. [2]
A Senior Advocate of Nigeria who hails from Supare-Akoko, Tomi Ologunorisa, was the founder of Sam Maris University, and serves as the chairman of the Board of Trustees and the Visitor of the institution. [3]
The university campus is located in Etioro-Afaa Road in Supare-Akoko, Akoko South West Local Government Area. In 2024, A former Ondo State Deputy Governor Ali Olanusi, who is an indigene of Supare-Akoko, announced plans to donate a 150-room hostel to the university campus in memory of his late wife. [4] [5]
