Samantha Reid (born 28 October 1988) is an Australian synchronised swimmer. She participated in the 2008 Olympics and the 2012 Summer Olympics, representing Australia.
Reid was born on 28 October 1988 in Sunnybank, Queensland. [1] She attended Kimberley Park State School and then went to high school at Rivermount College. [1] In high school, she played field hockey and volleyball. [1] As of 2021 [update] , she lives in Banff, AB. [1]
Reid is 160 centimetres (5 ft 3 in) tall and weighs 50 kilograms (110 lb). [1] [2]
Reid is a synchronised swimmer. [1] She became involved in the sport when she was eight years old because her sister was doing it. [3] She has been coached by Anna Nepotcheva since 2005 and Marina Kholod since 2006. [1] In 2008, she was a member of the Aqualina Synchronised Swimming Club, [2] and a member of the Gold Coast Mermaids in 2012. [4]
Reid competed in the Montreal hosted 2002 World Junior Synchro Championships in 2002. [1] She represented Australia at the 2003 Oceania Synchronised Swimming Championships. [1] At the 2006 Oceania Championships, she came in first. [1] In 2007, she competed at the FINA world championships in the team event. [5] The ten person team was the first Australian one to make it in the finals for the synchronised swimming free combination routine. [5]
Reid competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics. [3] [6] Her team came in seventh, scoring 40,417 in the technical routine, 41,750 in the free routine, 41,333 in technical merit, and 42,167 in artistic impression. [2]
In January 2009, Reid participated in the national team trials in order to earn a spot to compete in the 2010 Commonwealth Games. [3] She finished 4th in the Team event and 12th in the Duet event at the 2010 Swiss Open in Arbon, Switzerland. [1] She finished 6th in the Team event at the 2011 French Open in Paris, France. [1] She finished 9th in the Team event at the 2011 German Open in Bonn, Germany. [1] She finished 17th in the Team event at the 2011 FINA World Championships in Shanghai, China. [1] She finished 18th in the Technical Team event at the 2011 FINA World Championships in Shanghai, China. [1]
Reid was selected to represent Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics in synchronised swimming. [1] [7] The FINA World Championships held in Shanghai, China served as the 2012 Olympic qualifying event for the team. In the technical team portion, her team finished 18th and in the Free Team event, her team finished 17th and secured a spot at the 2012 Summer Olympics. [1] [4]
Synchronized swimming or artistic swimming is a sport where swimmers perform a synchronized choreographed routine, accompanied by music. The sport is governed internationally by World Aquatics. It has traditionally been a women's sport, although FINA introduced a new mixed gender duet competition that included one male swimmer in each duet at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships and LEN introduced men's individual events at the 2022 European Aquatics Championships. From 2024, men will be able to compete in the team event at the olympics.
Eloise Michelle Amberger is an Australian synchronized swimmer. Amberger made her international debut for Australia's National Junior Team in 2002 at the World Junior Synchronised Swimming Championships in Montreal, and joined Australia's National Team two years later in 2004. Amberger is a dual Olympian, having competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, and is a Commonwealth Games bronze medalist, having claimed third place overall in the duet event with Sarah Bombell at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

Bianca Hammett is an Australian synchronized swimmer. Taking up the sport at the age of eight and joining Australia's National Team in 2006, Hammett has represented Australia internationally in synchronised swimming since 2007. Hammett is a dual Olympian, having competed for Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics, held in London, and the 2016 Summer Olympics, held in Rio de Janeiro. Hammett has also competed for Australia at the 2007, 2011, 2013 and 2015 World Aquatics Championships.
