Samarendra Chandra Deb was a Bengali Indian jurist, who had served as Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court after the retirement of Justice Sambhu Chandra Ghose. [1] He was educated at the Scottish Church College, and at the University of Calcutta. [2] He served as a Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court in 1983 for the period of a year. [1]
Scottish Church College is a college affiliated by Calcutta University, India. It offers selective co-educational undergraduate and postgraduate studies and is the oldest continuously running Christian liberal arts and sciences college in Asia. It has been rated (A) by the Indian National Assessment and Accreditation Council. Students and alumni call themselves "Caledonians" in the name of the college festival, "Caledonia".

It has jurisdiction over the state of West Bengal and the Union Territory of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
