Johannes Sløk was a Danish philosopher, professor at the University of Aarhus and founder of "Idéhistorie", an interdisciplinary discipline mainly about writings pertaining to the ideas of Western culture since Antiquity. The concept is now the "Department of Philosophy and History of Ideas" a department under the faculty of humanities of Aarhus University. During the student rising of 1968, Sløk was forced to leave his position as professor at Idéhistorie, and the institute became oriented around the Marxist theory. Sløk instead was granted a special position at the Department of Theology, as professor of analytic theology. Sløk was one of the four Aarhus theologians and wrote a series of books on religion and its meaning to the modern man.

"Udsigter fra Ulriken" is the town song of Bergen, Norway. It is also known as "Bergenssangen", "Bergensiana", "Jeg tok min nystemte" and among the public "Nystemten". The lyrics were written in 1790 by the priest, politician and poet Johan Nordahl Brun when he worked as vicar at Bergen Cathedral. The melody is taken from an old French minuet. Norwegian composer Johan Halvorsen wrote orchestral variations on the melody under the name "Bergensiana". A notable performance was by Sissel Kyrkjebø in 1986, when she was 16 years old. It was her big breakthrough. She performed the song during the intermission of the Eurovision Song Contest 1986, which took place in Grieg Hall in Bergen.

<i>Submarino</i> 2010 film

Submarino is a 2010 Danish drama film directed by Thomas Vinterberg, starring Jakob Cedergren and Peter Plaugborg. It is based on the 2007 novel Submarino by Jonas T. Bengtsson, and focuses on two brothers on the bottom of Danish society, with lives marked by violence and drug addiction. The film was produced by Nimbus Film. As a condition from the financier TV 2, half of the cast and crew were novices, which the director enjoyed as it gave an experience similar to his earliest films.

Funen Series for men, also known as Albani Series for men for sponsorship reasons, and often shortened to FS serien and FS Herre, is the highest division for men organised by the regional football association DBU Fyn (DBUF) and one of the fifth-highest divisions overall in the Danish football league system. The league, deciding the Funen Football Championship, was first introduced with the 1904–05 season and throughout the years the competition format have gone through several series of changes. The Cotillion Coach is a miniature coach constructed in 1888 for the celebration of the 70th birthday of Christian IX of Denmark. It was later refurbished for the celebrations of the 18th birthday of Margrethe II and once again used at the 70th birthday of Queen Ingrid. It is on display in the Royal Mews and Carriage Museum at Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2020 Danish mink cull</span> Government-mandated slaughter of mink

The 2020 Danish mink cull, commonly known as the Mink Case or the Mink Scandal (Minkskandalen), was the government-mandated slaughter of all roughly 17 million mink that were being raised on farms for their fur in Denmark. The cull was in response to the detection of Cluster 5, an outbreak of a novel variant of SARS-CoV-2 in the mink, during the COVID-19 pandemic in Denmark. The cluster led to concerns that the potential of spillover to humans could reduce the efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines. The cull began on 4 November 2020. It later became clear that the cull orders had been given without legal authority, causing a political scandal.
