Samuel Thomas Harper Morrison (born March 26, 1990, in Olongapo, Zambales [2] ), also known as Butch Morrison, is a Filipino taekwondo practitioner. [3]
During his childhood Morrison played recreational basketball. Being an avid viewer of Power Rangers and Masked Rider, these shows influenced Morrison to take up taekwondo and he started to learn the sport in a local taekwondo gym in Olongapo. [4]
Morrison attended the University of Santo Tomas and was part of the Tiger Jins, the university's taekwondo team. He won gold for UST at the UAAP in 2008. [5] [6] By 2011 he was reported to be a student of the Far Eastern University. [7]
Morrison has competed at the world championships three times. He was a gold medalist at the 2015 Southeast Asian Games, and a bronze medalist at the 2014 Asian Games. [8] He also won silver at the 2011 Summer Universiade. [9] [7]
Morrison's attempt to qualify for 2012 Summer Olympics by entering the 2011 Asian Taekwondo Olympic Qualification Tournament failed. He attributed his failure to a lack of discipline and composure amidst bad calls, as well as his opponent's tactics. Morrison's attempt to qualify for the 2016 Summer Olympics by competing at the 2016 Asian Taekwondo Olympic Qualification Tournament. [4] also failed, although he was able to reach the Quarter finals. [10]
He plans within 2023, after the 2023 Southeast Asian Games and 2022 Asian Games. [11]
Morrison's father is a retired American Naval serviceman, and currently teaches History in the District of Columbia, and is based in Maryland. [2] Morrison's mother is Filipina. [4] Morrison has a family of his own and have a child. [11]
The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), established in 1938, is an athletic association of eight Metro Manila universities in the Philippines. The eight-member schools are Adamson University (AdU), Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University (DLSU), Far Eastern University (FEU), National University (NU), University of the East (UE), University of the Philippines Diliman (UP), and the University of Santo Tomas (UST).
Taekwondo was introduced to the Philippines through the efforts of Kim Bok Man and Young Man Park. Grand Master Kim Bok Man arrived in 1970 to continue Park's legacy of propagating Taekwondo upon the invitation of President Marcos. Kim continued to pioneer Taekwondo worldwide and left the Philippines in 1971. In 1975, Grand Master Hong Sung-chon came to the Philippines to promote Taekwondo, eventually establishing the Philippine Taekwondo Association (PTA). The current central headquarters of the PTA is at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex. The PTA is a member of the Kukkiwon, World Taekwondo Federation, Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Olympic Committee and Asian Taekwondo Union.
The De La Salle Green Archers and Lady Archers are the varsity teams representing De La Salle University in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines, among other leagues. The "Green Archer" is the traditional university mascot. While the university's teams are collectively referred to as the Green Archers and Lady Archers, each team carries a specific moniker that references the sport that they play. At the high school level, the university is represented by De La Salle Zobel's varsity program called the Zobel Junior Archers and Lady Junior Archers.

The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) taekwondo tournament was held before in the second semester of the academic year. However, when the UAAP Board transferred the volleyball tournament to the second semester in Season 69, Taekwondo was one of the second semester sports that was moved to the first semester.
Thomas Anthony "Tab" Baldwin is an American-New Zealand basketball coach who currently serves as the head of the Gilas Pilipinas Youth national basketball programme and head coach for the Ateneo Blue Eagles of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). Baldwin also served as a consultant of Philippine Basketball Association club team TNT Tropang Giga.
The UST Growling Tigers basketball is the intercollegiate men's basketball program of the University of Santo Tomas. The school has won 19 basketball titles including one in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). They are one of the winningest teams in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) with 18 championships, the last coming in 2006 during Pido Jarencio's rookie year of coaching. Jarencio returned as the team's head coach after ten years since resigning in 2013. He formally replaced Bal David on February 3, 2023.
Kiefer Isaac Crisologo Ravena is a Filipino professional basketball player who last played for Shiga Lakes of the B2 League. Ravena played for the Ateneo Blue Eagles of the UAAP during his college days. He plays the point guard position.

She was a member of the collegiate varsity women's volleyball team of Ateneo de Manila University in both indoor and beach volleyball. She was most outstanding as an indoor volleyball player where she brought multiple championship titles and a lot of honor for the university. She is a current member of Philippines national team. Her global recognition paved the way for her to play in other countries like Thailand for 3BB Nakornnont and Taiwan for Attack Line Volleyball Club.
The 2013 UST Growling Tigers men's basketball team represented University of Santo Tomas in the 76th season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. The men's basketball tournament for the school year 2013-2014 began on June 29, 2013 and the host school for the season was Adamson University.
