Íþróttafélagið Leiknir, commonly known as Leiknir Reykjavík, is an Icelandic multi-sports club. It is best known for its men's football team that plays in 1. deild karla, the second tier of Icelandic football, but also fields departments in Badminton, basketball, volleyball and karate. The club was founded in 1973 and is based in Breiðholt, Reykjavík. In 2014 the men's football team placed 1st in the 1. deild karla and won a promotion to the Úrvalsdeild, however after just one season they were relegated to back to the first division. In 2021 they will return to the top flight having finished second in the 2020 season. Their home is Leiknisvöllur, where they have played since their early years. The club's motto is "Pride of Breiðholt".
Íþróttafélagið Höttur is an Icelandic sports club from Egilsstaðir in the center, of the east side of Iceland. It is primarily known for its basketball, football and track & field departments but also fields departments in badminton, gymnastics, handball, swimming, taekwondo and volleyball.
Sigursteinn Davíð Gíslason was an Icelandic football player and manager. A left-sided defender who could also play in midfield, he spent the majority of his playing career in his home country; he started his career with KR and later had spells with ÍA and Víkingur Reykjavík. During the 1999–2000 season, Sigursteinn joined English club Stoke City and played eight matches in the Football League. Following his retirement from playing, he became a coach at his former club KR and went on to spend three years as the club's assistant manager. In 2008, Sigursteinn was appointed as manager of Leiknir Reykjavík, a position he held for more than two seasons before being forced to retire through illness.
The 2012 season of the 1. deild karla was the 58th season of second-tier football in Iceland and ran from 12 May 2012 until 22 September 2012. The league title was won by Þór Akureyri, who ended the campaign with a record of 16 wins, 2 draws and 4 defeats, giving them a total of 50 points. The Akureyri club, who had been relegated from the Úrvalsdeild in 2011, thereby achieved promotion back to the top level of Icelandic football at the first attempt. Also promoted to the Úrvalsdeild for the 2013 season were runners-up Víkingur Ólafsvík, who finished nine points clear of third-placed Þróttur Reykjavík.
The 2005 2. deild karla was the 40th season of third-tier football in Iceland. The league began on 16 May and was concluded on 10 September. It was contested by a total of ten clubs.

Gunnar Einarsson is a retired Icelandic footballer who played as a defender. He is probably best remembered for his time as a player with KR Reykjavík and Valur, with whom he won four Úrvalsdeild titles between 2000 and 2007. Gunnar won one cap for Iceland at international level.
