Samved is a Mumbai (India) based Folk Fusion/Electronica band. [1] Samved was formed in early 2013 by electronic artists and music producers Ritvik Joe and KK along with friends and performing musicians Zeeshan Khan, Sangeet Mishra and Kirti Das. [2] Samved is signed under Universal Music Group since the year 2014. [3] The same year, in 2014, Samved released their first studio album RlungTa. Samved is among the few bands in the country to use Sarangi as a lead instrument in their music. [4]
In 2014 Samved collaborated with Christie Bourcq, a French artist for their studio album Rlung Ta. Tracks performed by Christie Bourcq include Infinite Days [6] and Gyrating Solang. [7] In 2015 the band collaborated with Imran Khan, a renowned sitar player from Sikar Gharana and Shruti Prakash for their single Moore Nain, released by Universal Music Group.
Samved released their first single Kama Unit under the label Universal Music Group in early 2014. The video for the song was first of its kind in the world. The director of the video, Shekhar Karalkar, combined light painting and stop motion for the first time for a music video. [8] The video was well received and earned the band recognition in the Indie Music space. [9]
Samved's musical style is Electro Classical Fusion. [10] Their music is a blend of Upbeat Industrial Electronica and Hindustani Classical. [11] The band draws its inspiration from fusion acts like Anand Shankar and Talvin Singh. The band's name "Samved" is inspired for one of the four Vedas Samaveda. Samaveda is the Veda of Melodies and Sounds. The Indian Classical music and dance considers the melodies in Samaveda as one of its roots. Their logo is an ancient Indus valley dancing and performing arts symbol.

Hindustani classical music is the classical music of northern regions of the Indian subcontinent. It may also be called North Indian classical music or, in Hindustani, shastriya sangeet. The term shastriya sangeet literally means classical music, and can also mean Indian classical music in general. It is played in instruments like the violin, sitar and sarod. Its origins from the 12th century CE, when it diverged from Carnatic music, the classical tradition in South India. Hindustani classical music arose in the Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb, a period of great influence of Perso-Arabic arts in the subcontinent, especially the Northern parts. This music combines the Indian classical music tradition with Perso-Arabic musical knowledge, resulting in a unique tradition of gharana system of music education. Hindustani classical music is an integral part of the culture of India and is performed across the country and internationally. Exponents of Hindustani classical music such as Ustad Bismillah Khan, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, and Ravi Shankar have been awarded with the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award of India, for their contributions to the arts.
Ustad Amir Khan was one of the greatest and most influential Indian vocalists in the Hindustani classical tradition. He was the founder of the Indore gharana.

Gandharva Mahavidyalaya New Delhi is an institution established in 1939 to popularize Indian classical music and dance. The Mahavidyalaya (school) came into being to perpetuate the memory of Pandit Vishnu Digambar Paluskar, the great reviver of Hindustani classical music, and to keep up the ideals set down by him. Brij Narayan is an Indian classical musician who plays the string instrument sarod. Narayan was born in the Indian state Rajasthan and began to study sarod from a young age under his father Ram Narayan and other teachers. Gaan Maharishi Pt. Krishnarao Shankar Pandit (1893–1989) was an Indian musician, considered by many as one of the leading vocalists of the Gwalior gharana. He authored several articles and 8 books on music and was the founder of Shankar Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, a music college based in Gwalior. The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan, in 1973, for his contributions to music. He was also a recipient of several other honors, including the 1959 Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and the 1980 Tansen Award of the Government of Madhya Pradesh.
RlungTa is the first studio album by Mumbai-based Fusion band Samved. The album was released on 12 April 2014 signed under Universal Music Group. RlungTa is a blend of Hindustani Classical and electronica textured with the soulful sound of the Sarangi. The album is produced by electronic artists/music producers Ritvik Joe and KK, the founding members of the band. The Album was well received in the Indian Subcontinent and in Europe. The debut album got nominated and won the band Best Folk/Fusion Artist of the Year for 2014 at Radio City Freedom Awards along with The Best Produced Album in the band category at the prestigious IIRA awards in 2015.
