Sanam Maher is a Pakistani journalist and feminist. [1] [2] She is known for her book The sensational life of Qandeel Baloch which is based on the life of the late model Qandeel Baloch. [3] [4] [5]

Biography

Maher is one of five daughters born to a maxillofacial surgeon mother. [6]

Sanam is a journalist based in Karachi [7] [8] who has contributed to Express Tribune, [9] Dawn, [10] Al-Jazeera, The New York Times, Buzzfeed, The Guardian, The Scroll and Roads and Kingdoms. Sanam has written articles on the culture of Pakistan, business politics, women and minority rights for more than ten years. [11] [12] For a short time, Sanam worked on the television, covering the conflict in the region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. [13] [14] [15] She then worked as an editor in Herald and the national desk at The Express Tribune and The New York Times. [16] [17] Since 2015, she has worked as a freelance journalist. [18]

Sanam is also the author of the book The Sensational Life of Qandeel Baloch, which was her first book. [19] [20] A woman like her was released in 2019, which is also based on Qandeel Baloch. [21] [22] [23] Her first book was shortlisted for the Shakti Bhatt First Book Prize [24] and the Indian book prize award.

In 2018, Sanam worked on a book project with BBOD Pakistan and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s SOC Outreach. [25] [26] “Knowledge is Bulletproof” is a book on the life of Shazia Ramzan and Kainat Riaz, the two girls who were shot at with Malala Yousufzai in 2012. [27] In August 2018, ‘Knowledge is Bulletproof’ won 1 Gold, 5 Silver, and 7 Bronze awards at Asia's biggest award show, AD Stars.

In 2020, Sanam along with Fatima Bhutto started an initiative called Stay Home, Stay Reading. [28] The initiative is a virtual reading fair that allowed authors to promote their work by reading excerpts of their work through videos. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is a Pakistani politician and the current chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party. A member of the politically prominent Bhutto and Zardari families, he is the son of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto and former President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari. Sanam Saeed

Sanam Saeed is a Pakistani actress, singer and former model who predominantly works in Urdu cinema and television. She is best known for portraying the role of Kashaf Murtaza in Mominda Duraid's Zindagi Gulzar Hai for which she received numerous accolades including Lux Style Awards for Best Television Actress.

Baaghi is a drama serial that premiered on Urdu 1 on 27 July 2017. It is a biographical based TV show on the famous, controversial Pakistani figure Qandeel Baloch who was murdered by her brother in the name of honor in July 2016. The screenplay of this drama has been done by Umera Ahmed. Saba Qamar is playing the lead character of Fauzia/Qandeel in the series. Within a week of its launch, Baaghi became the most watched serial being viewed by Pakistanis on YouTube and has also been the limelight of controversies, as expected. The drama is one of the most hyped TV serials ever produced in Pakistan.

Feminism in Pakistan refers to the set of movements which aim to define, establish, and defend the rights of women in Pakistan.This may involve the pursuit of equal political, economic, and social rights, alongside equal opportunity. These movements have historically been shaped in response to national and global reconfiguration of power, including colonialism, nationalism, dictatorship, democracy, and the War on Terror. The relationship between the women's movement and the Pakistani state has undergone significant shifts from mutual accommodation to confrontation and conflict.

The Sensational Life & Death of Qandeel Baloch is a non-fiction book written by Pakistani journalist Sanam Maher about the life of Qandeel Baloch. The biography book was released on 10 May 2018 and was published by Rupa & Co.

Saba Faisal is a Pakistani senior actress and former news anchor. In her career more than a decade, she has appeared in several acclaimed television serials, theatre, plays and films mainly in Urdu language.

Umera Ahmad is a Pakistani writer, author and screenwriter. She is best known for her novels and plays Shehr-e-Zaat, Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Alif, Pir-e-Kamil, Durr-e-Shehwar, Daam, Man-o-Salwa, Qaid-e-Tanhai, Digest Writer, Maat, Kankar, Meri Zaat Zarra-e-Benishan, Doraha and Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay.

Niggo was a popular traditional Pakistani dancer and film actress. She mainly worked on Punjabi and Urdu films in the 60s.
