Sandals Church is a Baptist multi-site church based in Riverside, California. It is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention.

History

It was founded by Pastor Matt Brown and his wife, Tammy, in 1997. [1]

For the first 13 years of its existence, Sandals Church met in various locations throughout Riverside, CA, the longest of which was at the gym at California Baptist University. In 2010, Sandals Church purchased and moved to its own property at 150 Palmyrita Avenue in Riverside. In 2012, Sandals Church launched its second campus in the Woodcrest area of Riverside. Sandals Church has campuses established campuses in Moreno Valley, East Valley, Hunter Park, Downtown Riverside (Palm Ave Campus), San Bernardino, Banning, Woodcrest, Lake Arrowhead, Menifee, Eastvale, and Fresno.

According to a church census released in 2023, it claimed a weekly attendance of 11,000 people and 15 campuses in different cities. [2]

JC's Girls

Heather Veitch, a former stripper, was attending Sandals Church’s when it founded JC's Girls with the help of Matt Brown in 2005. [3]

Politana or Apolitana was the first Spanish settlement in the San Bernardino Valley of California. It was established as a mission chapel and supply station by the Mission San Gabriel in the a rancheria of the Guachama Indians that lived on the bluff that is now known as Bunker Hill, near Lytle Creek. Besides the Guachama, it was also at various times the home for colonists from New Mexico and Cahuilla people. The bulk of the population is centered in the cities of northwestern Riverside County and southwestern San Bernardino County, and is sometimes considered to include the desert communities of the Coachella and Victor Valleys, respectively on the other sides of the San Gorgonio Pass and San Bernardino Mountains from the Santa Ana River watershed that forms the bulk of the Inland Empire; a much broader definition includes all of Riverside and San Bernardino counties. Bunker Hill is a bluff in the City of San Bernardino in San Bernardino County, California. Bunker Hill trends northwest–southeast from 34°05′19″N117°18′18″W through the campus of San Bernardino Valley College on the northeast to 34°04′46″N117°18′6″W where it overlooks Lytle Creek on the southeast. Its tallest point is over 1080 feet at the top of a ridge marking its southwest facing edge at 34°05′04″N117°18′33″W the top of a ridge, just south of Grant Avenue, that overlooks the southern parking lot of the college. Bunker Hill gives its name to the neighborhood of the city of San Bernardino in the vicinity of this feature.
