Vice Admiral Sandeep Naithani, AVSM, VSM is a former Flag officer in the Indian Navy. He last served as the Chief of Materiel. He has earlier served as the Controller Warship Production and Acquisition from 2020 to 2021 and as the Admiral Superintendent Naval Dockyard (Mumbai) in 2018.
He hails from Pauri district of Uttarakhand and has done his schooling from the Government Model High School, Chandigarh and the Visakha Valley School in Visakhapatnam. [1] He graduated from the National Defence Academy, Pune as part of the 65th course. [2]
Naithani was commissioned into the Electrical branch of the Indian Navy on 1 January 1985. [3] He served three tenures on board the aircraft carrier IINS Viraat (R22). Ashore, he has served in the Naval Dockyards at Mumbai and Visakhapatnam. At Naval Dockyard (Mumbai), he served as the Manager, Electrical and Power Systems. Subsequently, he served as the Assistant General Manager (Planning) at Naval Dockyard (Visakhapatnam).
Naithani has completed the staff course at the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington. He also holds a master's degree in Radar and communication engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. He also attended the National Defence College, New Delhi. [4]
On promotion to flag rank, Naithani was appointed Assistant Chief of Materiel (Modernisation) at Naval headquarters (NHQ). He then moved to the Western Naval Command as the Chief Staff Officer (Technical) to the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Western Naval Command. [5] In January 2018, he was appointed Admiral Superintendent of Naval Dockyard (Mumbai). [6] Later that year, he was promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral and took over as the Director General Naval Projects, Mumbai. [2]
For his tenure as Admiral Superintendent of Naval Dockyard Mumbai, Naithani was awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal on 26 January 2019. [7] He subsequently was appointed Programme Director of the Advanced Technology Vessel project. On 12 June 2019, Naithani took over as the Controller Warship Production & Acquisition (CWP&A) at NHQ, from Vice Admiral S. R. Sarma.
On 1 June 2021, he was appointed Chief of Materiel, a principal staff officer (PSO) at NHQ. He also is the Senior most Technical Officer in the Indian Navy. [3] After a two-and-a-half year tenure, he superannuated on 31 December 2023, after handing over to Vice Admiral Kiran Deshmukh. [8] [9]

He is married to Manju Naithani and the couple has two daughters - Pyuli and Palek.[ citation needed ]

Vice Admiral Suraj Berry, AVSM, NM, VSM is a serving Flag officer in the Indian Navy. He currently serves as the Commander-in-Chief, Strategic Forces Command. He previously served as the Chief of Personnel, as the Controller of Personnel Services and as Chief of Staff of the Andaman and Nicobar Command. He was the second Commanding Officer of the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya.
Vice Admiral Sanjay Jasjit Singh, AVSM, NM is a serving flag officer in the Indian Navy. He currently serves as the 37th Vice Chief of the Naval Staff. He previously served as the Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Operations) at IDS HQ.
The Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff (DCNS) is a senior appointment in the Indian Navy. The DCNS is a PSO at Naval Headquarters in New Delhi. The Chief of Materiel (COM) is a senior Indian Navy appointment in the rank of Vice-Admiral. As a Principal Staff Officer (PSO) at Naval Headquarters (NHQ), the COM is responsible for all aspects of maintenance management and life-cycle support of all engineering, electrical, electronic, weapons, sensors, and IT-related systems for ships and submarines, along with responsibility for the creation of major marine and technical infrastructure. Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, VSM is a serving flag officer in the Indian Navy. She currently serves as the Director General Medical Services (Navy). She previously served as the Director General Medical Services (Air) in the rank of Air Marshal. Prior to that, she served as the Director and Commandant of the Armed Forces Medical College. She is the sixth woman in the Indian Armed Forces to be promoted to a three-star rank. She is the third woman officer to hold the rank of Vice Admiral in the Indian Navy, after Surgeon Vice Admirals Punita Arora and Sheila S. Mathai.
