Sandra Collins (born 16 July 1970) is an Irish mathematician and leading academic librarian, who is the university librarian of University College Dublin, Ireland's largest university, since 2022. She was director of the National Library of Ireland from 2015.
Collins attended University College Dublin, graduating with a BSc in Mathematics and Mathematical Physics in 1991, and receiving a PhD in Nonlinear Fluid Dynamics in 1996. [1]
She worked as a lecturer in mathematics at Dublin City University, with Ericsson, and as director of the Digital Repository of Ireland at the Royal Irish Academy.
She was appointed director of the National Library of Ireland in 2015, for a five-year term, [1] and agreed a second term from 2020.[ citation needed ] She has been the university librarian at University College Dublin since 2022. [2]
Collins has been the chair of the Consortium of National and University Libraries (CONUL), a member of the Irish Government's Expert Advisory Group for Commemorations, and of the Advisory Forum to the Irish Government's National Conversation on Research, and of the council of the Research Data Alliance (RDA).[ citation needed ]
Collins received three Ireland eGovernment awards for collaborative digital cultural projects: 'Promoting Ireland Overseas', 'Open Source', and 'Overall Winner'. [3] She received the UCD Alumni Award in Research, Innovation and Impact in 2020. [4]

The Royal College of Science for Ireland (RCScI) was an institute for higher education in Dublin which existed from 1867 to 1926, specialising in physical sciences and applied science. It was originally based on St. Stephen's Green, moving in 1911 to a purpose-built "Royal College of Science" building on Merrion Street, now known as Government Buildings. In 1926 it was absorbed into University College Dublin (UCD) as the faculty of Science and Engineering.
The National College of Art and Design (NCAD) is Ireland's oldest art institution, offering the largest range of art and design degrees at undergraduate and postgraduate level in the country. Originating as a drawing school in 1746, many of the most important Irish artists, designers and art educators have studied or taught in the college. NCAD has always been located in central Dublin, and in 1980 it relocated to the historic Liberties area. Desmond Fitzgerald is an Irish medical doctor and academic leader. On 6 October 2016, Fitzgerald was announced as the President-elect of the University of Limerick. He took up this role in early 2017, becoming the fifth President. He resigned in May 2020 for "personal health concerns" citing the COVID-19 pandemic.
