Abdalá Jaime "Dalo" Bucaram Pulley Jr., is an Ecuadorian political figure and former footballer. He is the son of former President Abdalá Bucaram Ortiz.
Rafael Vicente Correa Delgado, known as Rafael Correa, is an Ecuadorian politician and economist who served as President of Ecuador from 2007 to 2017. The leader of the PAIS Alliance political movement from its foundation until 2017, Correa is a democratic socialist and his administration focused on the implementation of left-wing policies. Internationally, he served as president pro tempore of the UNASUR.
Lenín Boltaire Moreno Garcés is an Ecuadorian politician who served as the 46th president of Ecuador, from 2017 to 2021. Moreno was vice president from 2007 to 2013, serving under President Rafael Correa.
Same-sex marriage in Ecuador has been legal since 8 July 2019 in accordance with a Constitutional Court ruling issued on 12 June 2019 that the ban on same-sex marriage was unconstitutional under the Constitution of Ecuador. The ruling took effect upon publication in the government gazette on 8 July. Ecuador became the fifth country in South America to allow same-sex couples to marry, after Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Colombia, but adoption by married couples remains restricted to opposite-sex couples. The country has also recognized same-sex civil unions since 2008.
PAIS Alliance is a centre-left social democratic political party in Ecuador. In 2016, it had 979,691 members.
María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés is an Ecuadorian politician and diplomat. She was the President of the United Nations General Assembly for the 73rd session from 2018 to 2019. She served as Minister of Foreign Affairs under President Lenín Moreno from May 2017 to June 2018. She also held several other Ministerial posts before, including as Minister of National Defense of from 28 November 2012 to 23 September 2014. She served as the Permanent Representative of Ecuador to the United Nations in Geneva from 2008 to 2009 and again from October 2014 to May 2017. Besides her political career she is also a poet and essayist.
Fabrizio Moreira is an Ecuadorian politician and businessman.. He currently resides in the United States after he fled as a political dissident against the former government of Rafael Correa in Ecuador. He is owner of the record label VIP Music Records, best known for managing the bookings of the rapper Soulja Boy from 2013 to 2014. He is also a dual LARAS / NARAS Grammy voting member and international speaker.
Creating Opportunities is a centre-right political party in Ecuador. In 2021 general election, its leader, Guillermo Lasso was elected for president.
Jorge David Glas Espinel is an Ecuadorian politician and electrical engineer. He served as Vice President of Ecuador from 24 May 2013 to 13 December 2017. President Lenín Moreno suspended Glas of his official duties as Vice President on 3 August 2017. In December 2017, Glas was sentenced to six years imprisonment by a Criminal Tribunal of the National Court of Justice, for receiving over $13.5 million in bribes in the Odebrecht scandal. He was released from prison on 10 April 2022.
José Serrano Salgado is an Ecuadorian politician. He was President of the National Assembly between 14 May 2017 and 9 March 2018. He was Minister of the Interior from 13 May 2011 to 15 November 2016. He previously held other cabinet posts.
Gabriela Alejandra Rivadeneira Burbano is an Ecuadorian politician. She was President of the National Assembly of Ecuador between May 2013 and May 2017. Previously she was Governor of Imbabura Province from 2011 to 2012.
Annabella Emma Azín Arce is an Ecuadorian politician, doctor of medicine, and wife of Álvaro Noboa she has four children. She is the president of the Crusade for a New Humanity Foundation, caring for those afflicted by disease for over 20 years. She has participated in protest marches against the government of Rafael Correa.
María Alejandra Vicuña Muñoz is an Ecuadorian politician who served as the Vice President of Ecuador under President Lenin Moreno between January and December 2018, previously as the Housing and Urban Development Minister of Ecuador.
Aída del Carmen Jesús Consuelo García-Naranjo Morales, also known by her nickname "Mocha", is a Peruvian educator, singer, and politician, the former Secretary General of the Socialist Party and spokesperson of Gana Perú, the alliance of former President Ollanta Humala.
The Citizen Revolution Movement is a left-wing democratic socialist political party in Ecuador formed by supporters of former President Rafael Correa who distanced themselves from Correa's former PAIS Alliance party during the presidency of Lenín Moreno. The party takes its name from the term used to refer to the project of building a socialist society.
Andrés Arauz Galarza is an Ecuadorian politician and economist. He was a candidate for President in the 2021 election.
General elections were held in Ecuador on 7 February 2021, established by the National Electoral Council (CNE) as the date for the first round of the presidential election and a vote on mining in Cuenca. Incumbent president Lenín Moreno, who had held the office since his victory over Guillermo Lasso in 2017, did not seek reelection. Although delaying the election due to the COVID-19 pandemic was discussed, the CNE announced on 15 December 2020 that the electoral calendar would not shift and confirmed elections would take place in February 2021.
Union for Hope is a political coalition in Ecuador for the 2021 Ecuadorian general election. Political groups from the left-wing participated, with only the Democratic Center Movement being officially on the ballot, to sponsor the presidential candidacy of Andrés Arauz for the 2021 presidential election.
Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra is a Peruvian lawyer and politician who is the current Vice President of Peru since 2021. She has been a RENIEC official since 2007.
