Sharadchandra Govindrao Pawar is an Indian politician. He served as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra for four terms and in the Union Council of Ministers as the Minister of Defence in the Cabinet of P.V. Narsimha Rao as well as the Minister of Agriculture in the Cabinet of Manmohan Singh. He is the first and former president of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), "which he founded in 1999, after separating from the Indian National Congress". His faction of the NCP was split by his nephew, Ajit Pawar. He leads his faction of the NCP in the Rajya Sabha, the upper chamber of the Indian parliament. He is the chairperson of Maha Vikas Aghadi, a regional Maharashtra-based political alliance.
The Nationalist Congress Party is one of the state parties in India and is one of the major political parties in Maharashtra with a recognised state party status in Nagaland and Kerala. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena is a Regionalist Indian political party based in the state of Maharashtra and operates on the ideology of Hindutva and Marathi Manus. It was founded on 9 March 2006 in Mumbai by Raj Thackeray after he left the Shiv Sena party due to differences with his cousin Uddhav Thackeray, who later became the 19th Chief Minister Of Maharashtra and to his sidelining by the Shiv Sena in major decisions like distribution of election tickets.
Jayant Rajaram Patil is an Indian politician from the state of Maharashtra. He has been representing Islampur in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly for more than three decades. He was the Cabinet minister of the Water Resources Department in Uddhav Thackeray ministry. He previously served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, alongside Ajit Pawar in the Eknath Shinde government. Besides this, from 2019 to 2022, he served as the Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. He was the President of BJP's Maharashtra state unit from 2013 to 2015. He became Chief Minister at the age of 44, making him the second-youngest in Maharashtra's history after Sharad Pawar.

He is also the Member of Legislative Assembly for the Kopri-Pachpakhadi constituency of Thane, Maharashtra, since 2009 and was formerly the MLA of Thane constituency from 2004 to 2009.

Rahul Narwekar is an Indian politician and member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He is currently the MLA from the Colaba Assembly constituency and also the current Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. Narwekar was elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Council in June 2016 as a Governor's Nominated member. He is the second-youngest person to be elected speaker of any state in the country, the youngest being Shivraj Patil. In May 2023, he completed a 4-day UK tour speaking at the Ideas for India Conference organised by Bridge India in London, and speaking with students at Cambridge University. His tour attracted media attention because of its proximity to the Supreme Court judgement on the disqualification of 16 MLAs of the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena. In November 2024 he was re-elected on a Bharatiya Janata Party ticket as a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from the Colaba constituency and won by a huge margin.
Narendra Bhondekar is a politician from Bhandara district, Maharashtra. He is current Member of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from Bhandara Vidhan Sabha constituency elected as an Independent candidate. He joined Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena after the split in Shiv Sena.
Manjula Tulshiram Gavit is a politician from Dhule district, Maharashtra. She is current Member of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from Sakri Vidhan Sabha constituency as an independent member. After elected she joined Shiv Sena in Presence of Udhav Thackeray. Post-Shiv Sena 2022 split, she joined Shiv Sena on 10/08/2024 in Dhule in presence of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
The 2024 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election was held on 20 November 2024 to elect all 288 members of the state's Legislative Assembly to elect 288 members of the 15th Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. The turnout for the election was 66.05%, the highest since 1995. The ruling Maha Yuti alliance won a landslide victory, winning 235 seats. None of the parties in the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance won the necessary number of seats to obtain the position of leader of opposition, a first in six decades.
The 2022 Maharashtra political crisis began on 21 June 2022 in the Indian state of Maharashtra when Eknath Shinde, along with several other MLAs of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition moved to Surat in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-governed Gujarat, throwing the coalition into a crisis.
