Sanjay Bhatia (born 5 July 1960) is the Upa-Lokayukta of Maharashtra (equivalent to a deputy ombudsman) and current head (in charge,I/C) of the Lokayukta. [1] He is the former Chairman of Mumbai Port Trust and Indian Ports Association. He is an Indian Administrative Service officer of 1985 batch who has served at various levels of the state and central governments in India.
He is a mechanical engineer with an MBA from Southern Cross University,Australia,and a Maharashtra cadre IAS officer of the 1985 batch. [2]
Bhatia is a practitioner of meditation,and teaches heartfulness meditation. [5]
The City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO) is an Indian city planning agency and richest government authority in India which is formed and controlled by the Government of Maharashtra. Chandrasekhar Bhaskar Bhave is an Indian financial regulator. He was appointed as Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in February 2008 for a period of three years. The Lokayukta is the Indian Parliamentary Ombudsman,executed into power,through and for,each of the State Governments of India. It is brought into effect in a state,after passing the Lokayukta Act in respective state Legislature and a person of reputable background is nominated to the post. The post is created to quickly address grievances against the working integrity and efficiency of the government or its administration. Once appointed,Lokayukta cannot be dismissed or transferred by the government,and can only be removed by passing an impeachment motion by the state assembly,making it a powerful deterrent against corruption and mal-administration of the governing system.
