Santhosh Balaraj is an Indian actor who has predominantly worked on Kannada-language films. The son of producer Anekal Balaraj, Santhosh began his career in the lead role in Kempa (2009). He gained popularity for his performance in the 2015 action thriller Ganapa . [1]
In 2009, he played the lead role in his debut movie Kempa , produced by his father Anekal Balaraj. [2] His following films, a family drama titled Olavina Ole (2012) and action film Janma (2013). While the former released to mixed reviews, the latter released to positive reviews. [3] [4] In Ganapa , he played an innocent man forced to get into rowdyism. Regarding his performance, a critic wrote that "Santhosh, especially, has grown as a performer". [5] [6] His latest film Kariya 2 which is an action romantic thriller set in the backdrop of underworld was released in October 2017. [7] [8] The film opened to mixed to positive reviews. Paramathma is a 2011 Indian Kannada-language romantic comedy film written, directed and co-produced by Yogaraj Bhat. Halfway through its production, the film's TV rights was procured for a record ₹3.5 crore. Even before the release, the film grossed a record amount of over ₹25 Cr included broadcasting and distribution rights. Since release, the movie has garnered a cult status for its metaphorical narration and out-of-the box storytelling.
Kariya is a 2003 Indian Kannada-language gangster film written and directed by Prem, starring Darshan and Abinayasri. It narrates the tragic story of a homeless assassin-for-hire Kariya, who falls for Maya, a well educated and rich dancer. Although she tries to convey her feelings, Kariya hesitantly moves away causing her to pledge that she will only reciprocate his feelings if he proclaims his love for her. However the film is rated as an average, but the director Hari Santhosh fetched best director in Karnataka state film awards 2012–13.

The film was simultaneously produced by Rockline Venkatesh and M. Babu in Kannada and Tamil languages. Despite the title, the film is not a direct sequel to the 2001 film, Kotigobba.
Kariya 2 (transl. Blacky) is an Indian Kannada action gangster film directed by Prabhu Srinivas starring Santhosh Balaraj in the title role and Mayuri Kyatari in the opposite lead role. The film is produced by Anekal Balaraj through his production company Santosh Enterprises. The score and soundtrack are composed by Karan B. Krupa while cinematography is handled by Srinivas Dewamsam. Different Danny, Ravi Varma, Mass Madha and Vikram Mor were hired as stunt directors. The movie was dubbed in Hindi as Ghajinikanth. It was reported that the makers had sold the copyrights for the South Korean remake version. This movie is an unrelated sequel to 2003 blockbuster Kariya.

The film stars Dhanveer Gowda, a debutant and Aditi Prabhudeva in the lead roles along with Sadhu Kokila, Sharath Lohitashwa and Aruna Balaraj in the supporting roles. The film's plot deals with the gambling process involved in the pigeon racing. The film is shot in the real locations across Bengaluru, Mysore and Tumkur where the pigeon races are actually held.
