Santosh Ghante (11 August 1983) is an Indian harmonium player, soloist, accompanist and composer.

Early life

Santosh Ghante was born to lower middle class family in Chinchwad.

Career

He is the disciple of Late Pt. Appa Jalgaonkar. [1] He did a series of workshops with school children during 10 to 30 September 2006, He was able to cover 50 schools from Latur district, these were introductory workshops around classical music. [2] He has performed solo in 22 countries. [3] [4] He has taken harmonium from accompanied instrument to solo, with different experiments with it. [5] [6] He has been trying to popularise folk music and providing platform for the neglected forms of music too. [7] work and career events [8] He edited a book to pay tribute to his Guru Appasaheb Jalgonkar, named Sursakha, which was published in 2011. [9] [10] [11]

Sakharam Prabhakar Jalgaonkar, known as Appa Jalgaonkar or Appasaheb Jalgaonkar, was an Indian harmonium player from the state of Maharashtra. Born in 1922 and adopted when he was two years old, he started to learn singing but had to stop due to voice change with the onset of puberty and later shifted to learn harmonium. He accompanied several Hindustani classical singers, tabla artistes and dancers in their performances. He received Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in Harmonium category – a category in which the Sangeet Natak Akademi felicitates rarely. Following a paralysis attack in late 1990s, he died in 2009.

Sangeet Manapmaan is a 2025 Indian Marathi-language epic musical film directed by Subodh Bhave.
