Reception

The film was released on 15 March 2002. In his review, S. R. Ashok Kumar of The Hindu noted "if only the director Sivaguru, who is also in charge of story, screenplay and dialogue had paid more attention to the narration, he could have come up with an enjoyable film." [3] Malini Mannath of ChennaiOnline wrote "in a futile effort to take the audience by surprise, the director who begins it as a love story, suddenly turns it into a triangle, only to reveal in the end that there were four players in the game". [4]

The music was composed by Devi Sri Prasad with editing done by Gautham Raju and cinematography by Chota K. Naidu. The film released on 6 April 2005 and was received mixed-to-positive reviews, and was commercially successful. Later the film was dubbed and released in Malayalam as Bunny: The Lion was also commercial success.

The film was remade in Kannada as Manasina Maathu (2011) and in Bengali as Sabuj Saathi (2002).

Gemini is the soundtrack album for the 2002 Tamil film of the same name directed by Saran and features music composed by Bharadwaj with lyrics by Vairamuthu. Since making his entry into Tamil films with Saran's directorial debut Kaadhal Mannan, he has scored the music for most films directed by Saran. The album features seven tracks; five songs and two alternate versions of the song. An eighth track; the alternate version of the song "O Podu" released, post the film's release.
