Life and career

Born in Santa Barbara, California, Laine spent her childhood living across Europe due to her father’s career in automotive design. [1] Later, she moved to Michigan, where she took acting and modeling classes.

Laine made her acting debut in two episodes of the television series Passions in 1999. [2] She played a small supporting role in the comedy American Pie 2 (2001). [3] She had a recurring role as Dr. Sarah Webber on the daytime drama General Hospital in 2002. [1] In the 2003 fantasy film Mermaids , she played one of the three mermaid sisters who kill their father's murderers. The made-for-television film was originally conceived as a pilot for a television series. [4] She played a leading role in the erotic thriller Wild Things: Diamonds in the Rough (2005), where she portrays a rich young woman named Marie who is battling with her obnoxious stepfather over a pair of extremely valuable diamonds. [5] She appeared in a larger role in the horror films Flight of the Living Dead (2007) and The Terror Experiment (2010). [6]

Laine retired from acting in 2010. [1] In a 2025 interview, Laine credited the decision to the slowing of the entertainment industry due to the 2007–08 writers' strike and experiencing a period of "personal upheaval" that according to her included a near-death experience. [1] This prompted her to pursue a career as a personal branding strategist and business coach. [1] Laine lives in Los Angeles.
