Sasha Glavic (born May 3, 1983) is a former Canadian football linebacker for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League from 2006-2009. He was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2006. Glavic played for the Calanda Broncos in Switzerland Nationalliga A (American football) from 2010-2012.

Professional career

Canadian Football League

Glavic signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in May 2006 and attended the 2006 Hamilton Tiger-Cats season training camp before being released on June 3 to return to the Windsor Lancers for his final season of CIS football. [1] [2]

Glavic returned to the Ti-Cats for the 2007 Hamilton Tiger-Cats season and made his CFL debut on June 30, 2007. He played in nine games before being placed on the injured list for week 10 and the reserve list for week 11. [2] In the 2008 Hamilton Tiger-Cats season, he played in 10 games, was on injured list for 7, and inactive for 1 game. His 13 special team tackles were the second-most amongst Ti-Cats in 2008. [2]

On May 1, 2009, Glavic was traded to the Saskatchewan Roughriders along with the first selection in the third-round of the 2009 CFL Draft in exchange for Yannick Carter, Brandon Myles, and the Roughriders sixth-place selection in the third-round of the 2009 CFL Draft. Glavic was released by the Roughriders on June 25, 2009, at the conclusion of 2009 Saskatchewan Roughriders season training camp. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats re-signed Glavic on September 15, 2009. Europe & Swiss National League

From 2010-2012, Glavic played for the Calanda Broncos in the Swiss Nationalliga A with his brother Marko Glavic. They won the 2010 EFAF Cup and the Swiss Bowl 2010-2012. The team also upset the favored Vienna Vikings from the Austrian Football League 27-14, in the 2012 European Championship Eurobowl, the final game of the European Football League. [5]

He played for the Riders for six seasons after he was drafted by them in the first round of the 2006 CFL Draft. He then played six seasons for the Tiger-Cats. Fantuz was also signed by the Chicago Bears in 2011. He played CIS football for the Western Ontario Mustangs.

Daryl Stephenson is a former professional Canadian football running back. He was originally drafted by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2008 and played with that franchise for three seasons. Stephenson then played for two seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats before signing with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He played collegiately for the University of Windsor Lancers.

Erik Glavic is a former Canadian football quarterback who played CIS football for both the Calgary Dinos and the Saint Mary's Huskies. Glavic is the only CIS football player to have won the Hec Crighton Trophy with two different teams. His brother Sasha Glavic is a former defensive back for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League.

Dan Comiskey is a retired Canadian football offensive lineman, turned professional speaker, who played 13 seasons for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Edmonton Eskimos and Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League. He was drafted in the fifth round of the 1997 CFL Draft by the Roughriders. He played CIS football for the Windsor Lancers.

Eric Norwood is a former American football defensive end. He was most recently a member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was a member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL from 2013 to 2015. He formerly played for the University of South Carolina. During his collegiate career, he set school career records in tackles for loss (54.5) and quarterback sacks (29). With numerous conference and national honors, Norwood is one of the most decorated defensive players in SEC history and has drawn comparisons to James Harrison. Norwood was considered a top linebacker prospect for the 2010 NFL Draft; he was selected in the fourth round, 124 overall by the Carolina Panthers.

Yannick Carter is a former professional Canadian football linebacker. He was drafted in the third round of the 2007 CFL Draft by the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Carter also played 4 seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He played CIS Football at Wilfrid Laurier.

Kyle Jones is a former Canadian football linebacker. He was signed by the Toronto Argonauts as an undrafted free agent in 2009. He played CIS football for the Bishop's Gaiters after playing for the Woodlands Rams. On June 20, 2010, Jones was released by the Argonauts. He rejoined the Argonauts on August 9, 2010 when they signed him to a practice roster deal, but was released by them again on August 31, 2010. After spending the 2011 training camp with the Montreal Alouettes, Jones was signed by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on June 27, 2011. He was later released by the Tiger-Cats on May 17, 2012 and immediately signed by the Toronto Argonauts.

As well, Butler was recognized as a member of the CFL All-Decade team, 2010-2019.

The Calanda Broncos are an American football team from Landquart, Switzerland. The club, formed in 1991 as the Landquart Broncos, changed its name in late 2008 after the Calanda mountain to show the club's desire to represent a larger region of Graubünden rather than just the community of Landquart. With the move to the stadium in nearby Chur the club was also able to draw larger crowds for its home matches. The club is the best-supported American football club in Switzerland.

The Nationalliga A is the highest league level of American football in Switzerland and was formed in 1982. The first Swiss Bowl championship was played in 1986. Below the Nationalliga A sits the Nationalliga B, also made up of six teams. The champion of the B division has the opportunity to earn promotion to the top division through a relegation/promotion match. There is also a National League C.

Ibrahim Tounkara is a former Canadian football wide receiver who played seven seasons in the Canadian Football League (CFL) with the Calgary Stampeders, Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Saskatchewan Roughriders. He was drafted by the Stampeders with the fifth overall pick of the 2000 CFL Draft. He played CIS football at the University of Ottawa. Tounkara's brother Ousmane also played in the CFL.
