Saskia Alusalu (born 14 April 1994 [1] ) is an Estonian speed skater. Alusalu represented Estonia at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.
In the 2017/18 World Cup in Calgary, Alusalu achieved by far her best World Cup result to date when she placed fourth in the mass start. She attacked early and broke away from the field until three other athletes around the eventual winner Claudia Pechstein caught up with her and finally overtook her. [2]
Alusalu was Estonias's flag bearer at the 2018 Winter Olympics.
She holds several national records.
In August 2021, despite already training for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, she announced that she was ending her career as a speed skater because she wanted to focus more on her personal life and felt she could no longer handle the physical stresses. In addition to her current physiotherapy studies at the University of Tartu, she has obtained a coaching diploma to work as such in the future. [3]
Bonnie Kathleen Blair is a retired American speed skater. She is one of the top skaters of her era, and one of the most decorated athletes in Olympic history. Blair competed for the United States in four Olympics, winning five gold medals and one bronze medal.

After the World Championships in Norway in February 2009, Pechstein was accused of blood doping and banned from all competitions for two years.
Irene Karlijn (Ireen) Wüst is a Dutch former long track speed skater of German ancestry. Wüst became the most successful speed skating Olympian ever by achieving at least one gold medal in each of five consecutive Winter Olympic appearances. Wüst is the second athlete to win a gold medal at five consecutive Olympics, Summer or Winter, and the first to do so in individual events.
Martina Sáblíková is a Czech speed skater, specializing in long track speed skating. She is an Olympic gold medal winner and a multiple European and World allround champion. She became the first Czech to win two Olympic gold medals at one Winter Games in 2010. Sáblíková also competes in inline speed skating and road cycling races as a part of her summer preparation for the skating season. In cycling, she focuses on individual time trial discipline in which Sáblíková holds multiple Czech Republic National Championships titles and belongs to the world's top 15 female time-trialists. Sáblíková is the elder sister of fellow speedskater Milan Sáblík.
Li Yan is a Chinese speed skating and short track speed skating coach, also a retired skater. She competed in the 1988 and 1992 Winter Olympics for China. She coached Slovakia for a short time the Club USSV in Vienna and the United States. After the 2006 Winter Olympic Games, she came back to China and became the head coach of Chinese national short track speed skating team. In 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympic Games, her team won 6 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medals in total. On May 16, 2014, a press release provided by the Chinese Skating Association announced that "Li would remain as the head coach of the Chinese short track team until the Pyeongchang Games".
Park Seung-hi is a former South Korean short track and long track speed skater. She is the 2010 Overall World Champion. She won two gold medals and three bronze medals at 2010 Winter Olympics and 2014 Winter Olympics. Her sister is Park Seung-ju, a long track speed skater, and her brother Park Se-yeong, a short track speed skater. She switched to long-track speed skating after the 2014 Sochi Olympics. After the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics Park announced her retirement from speedskating.
Noh Seon-yeong is a South Korean speed skater who holds the national record for the women's long track speed skating 1500 metres. She represented her country at four Winter Olympic Games.

Laura Isabel Gómez Quintero, also simply known as Laura Gómez, is a Colombian female speed skater who was a professional roller skater during her early career. She took the sport of speed skating only in late July 2017 and broke several Colombian national records for women within six months after engaging in speed skating before impressing the selectors to name herself at the 2018 Winter Olympics. She competed in the women's 3000m mass start event.
