The Odia (ଓଡ଼ିଆ), formerly spelled Oriya, are an Indo-Aryan ethno-linguistic group native to the Indian state of Odisha who speak the Odia language. They constitute a majority in the eastern coastal state, with significant minority populations existing in the neighboring states of Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and West Bengal.
Odia literature is literature written in the Odia language, mostly from the Indian state of Odisha. The modern Odia language is mostly formed from Tadbhava words with significant Sanskrit (Tatsama) influences, along with loanwords from Desaja, English, Hindustani (Hindi/Urdu), Persian, and Arabic. Its earliest written texts date from around 1000 CE. The earliest Odia newspaper was Utkala Deepika, first published on August 4, 1866.
The Odia cinema, colloquially known as Ollywood, is the Odia language Indian film industry, based in Bhubaneshwar and Cuttack in Odisha, India. The name Ollywood is a portmanteau of the words Odia and Hollywood.
Anubhav Mohanty is an Indian actor, politician, film producer, television personality and social activist who is known for his work majorly in Odia language films. Mohanty has also worked in Bengali films. Mohanty has a significant fan following especially in Odisha.
Archita Sahu is an Indian actress, model, and television personality. She is known for her work in Odia films, for which she has received four Odisha State Film Awards. In 2013, she was named first runner-up in Kolkata's regional Femina Miss India pageant.
Hara Pattanaik, also known as Hari Patnaik, was an Indian actor, director and screenplay writer known for his works in Odia cinema. He has acted over 60 Odia-language movies and directed about 19 others. Pattanaik was instrumental in introducing other actors including Anubhav Mohanty, Sabyasachi Mishra and Babushaan. He died of cancer on 13 January 2015.
Rangin Jajabara is a 1975 Odia language Indian movie. The music was composed by Akshya Mohanty. It was produced by Bijay Pattnaik, directed by Akshaya Mohanty, Hemanta Das and Bijay Mishra (Trimurty). The movie stars Sriram Panda, Banaja Mohanty and Tripura Mishra. Jajabar was the first black-and-white film in Odia to be digitally colorized and re-released in the state.
Sanjay Nayak is an Indian Odia filmmaker. He regarded as one of the most successful filmmakers in Odisha. Nayak, the young filmmaker has directed 32 movies in a short career of 15yrs in the film industry. He has also produced several movies under his production house 'Sanjay Nayak Films'. He not only directs but also write scripts, lyrics and does the screenplay. He produced and directed Keun Duniaru Asila Bandhu which is the first science fiction in Odia.
Love Dot Com is a 2009 Oriya film produced & directed by Raqhat Quddus. This film is a love story of two lovers, who has family rivalry. The movie is a remake of 1991 Malayalam movie Godfather.
Most Wanted is a 2011 Oriya film directed by Sushant Mani.
Kebe Tame Naahan Kebe Mun Naahin is a 2012 Indian Oriya film directed by Chakradhar Sahu starring Sabyasachi Mishra, Archita Sahu and Manoj Mishra. The film released on 17 February 2012.

In 2022, Babushan Mohanty portrayed Doctor Character in DAMaN movie was an Indian Odia-language adventure drama film Released in Odia as well as in the Hindi language and it was one of the highest grossing Odia movies.
Balunga Toka is a 2011 Indian Odia-language romantic drama film directed by Sudhakara Basanta. The film stars Anubhav Mohanty and Barsha Priyadarshini as lead role. Balunga Toka was released on 2 October 2011. The film was commercially successful and became the highest-grossing Odia film of all time. It is a remake of the 2004 Tamil-Telugu bilingual film 7G Rainbow Colony. The film score was released by Amara Muzik.
Luchakali is an Odia drama and thriller film released on 30 March 2012. it features Babushaan, Shriya Jha, Samaresh Routray and Ajit Das in key roles with original music by Anbu Selvam. It is partially inspired by Hollywood thriller Sleeping with the Enemy.
Emiti Bi Prema Hue is a 2012 Indian Oriya romantic drama film directed by Nishikant Dalabehera. Sabyasachi Mishra, Riya Dey and Mihir Das played the lead cast. The film was released on 10 February 2012.
Kanhu Charan Mohanty was an Indian Odia language novelist who wrote fifty-six novels in a career spanning over six decades from 1930 to 1985. He is considered "one of the most popular and celebrated novelists of Odisa". Mohanty was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1958 for his novel, Kaa, published in 1956, and was one of the fellows of the Sahitya Akademi. Mohanty died on 6 April 1994 at the age of 87.
Aadim Vichar is a 2014 Indian Sambalpuri language drama film directed by Sabyasachi Mohapatra. The film won 62nd National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Odia and is a sequel to the 2012 movie "Sala Budha". Atal Bihari Panda and Sushree Smita Panda played lead roles in the film.
Pushkara is a 2023 Indian Odia-language film directed by Subhransu Das in his debut and released on 19 September 2023 on the occasion of Ganesh Puja. It was made by Tarang Cine Productions. Musician Bibhuti Bhusan Gadanayak composed all the songs in the movie. Sabyasachi Mishra and Supriya Nayak played the lead role. Actors like Choudhury Bikash Das, Asrumochan Mohanty, Pintu Nanda, Tribhuban Panda, Alka Satpathy, Rabi Mishra, Sankarsan Pradhan played various roles in the movie.
