"Savior" is the third single from the Christian rock band Skillet's fifth studio album, Collide . It has been to date the band's fifth highest mainstream rock Billboard charting single, peaking at No. 26. The song is on the Digital Praise PC game Guitar Praise.
Savior peaked at No. 26 on the Billboard rock charts and No. 21 on the ChristianRock.net Annual Top 100.
The music video shows the band playing in both a house and at a park at night. It became only the second Skillet video to have a story in the video, after "Best Kept Secret," though the story in the "Savior" video is more heavily featured. The video shows an abusive father mistreating his children in the house, and the subsequent escape of the children from their father. They make their way into the park, while the location of the band playing switches from one to the other. The video ends with the children being safe in their mother's arms. The video is arguably the heaviest in theme in the band's career to that point. Lead singer and bassist, John Cooper has said that 'Savior' is a song written mostly about his childhood. Although he was not physically abused by his father, he had a very destructive emotional relationship with him. The end of the video shows that although Cooper and his father had a bad relationship, he had a very good relationship with his mother.
Skillet is an American Christian rock band formed in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1996. The band currently consists of husband and wife duo John Cooper and Korey Cooper along with Jen Ledger and Seth Morrison. The band has released eleven studio albums, two of which, Collide and Comatose, received Grammy nominations. Two of their albums, Comatose and Awake, are certified Platinum and Double Platinum respectively by the RIAA, while Rise and Unleashed are certified Gold as of June 29, 2020. Four of their songs, "Monster", "Hero", "Awake and Alive", and "Feel Invincible", are certified Multi-Platinum, while another two, "Whispers in the Dark" and "Comatose", are certified Platinum, and another four, "Rebirthing", "Not Gonna Die", "The Last Night", and "The Resistance" are certified Gold.
Collide is the fifth studio album by American Christian rock band Skillet. It was originally released on Ardent Records on November 18, 2003. The album was re-released on Lava Records as an enhanced CD with the bonus track "Open Wounds" on May 25, 2004. Collide peaked at No. 179 on the Billboard 200 and No. 5 on the Top Heatseekers. The album artwork, according John Cooper in a 2004 interview, is "faith and fear colliding." The album has sold over 320,000 units in the USA alone. The album received positive reviews. Collide was nominated for "Best Rock Gospel Album" at the 47th Annual Grammy Awards on February 13, 2005. Even though the album has sold enough copies to go gold, it has never been certified by the RIAA.
Invincible is the third studio album by American Christian rock band Skillet. It was released on February 1, 2000 on ForeFront Records and Ardent Records. This album continues the electronic rock that was heard on Hey You, I Love Your Soul (1998). Kevin Haaland replaced original guitarist Ken Steorts, although Steorts performed additional guitar on the album. Korey Cooper, John Cooper's wife, was the keyboardist and backing vocalist on the album and also did loops, programming, and sampling.
