Schoolboy Records is an American record label established in 2007 by Scooter Braun through his Schoolboy Entertainment, part of SB Projects (now a subsidiary of Hybe America), a full-service entertainment and marketing company encompassing a wide range of ventures including Raymond Braun Media Group, SB Consulting, SB Management, and Sheba Publishing. [1] The label has a special business arrangement with Universal Music Group.
Schoolboy Records' success came with the signing of Asher Roth and his single "I Love College" followed by Roth's debut album Asleep in the Bread Aisle . [2] Schoolboy Records also had early success with Justin Bieber's songs "Baby" and "One Time", Carly Rae Jepsen and her No. 1 hit song "Call Me Maybe", which has been certified diamond, as well as CL and her song "The Baddest Female". In September 2012, Braun signed Korean rapper Psy, whose hit "Gangnam Style" topped multiple international charts. In late 2012, Universal Republic Records converted back to Republic Records, making all artists under the roster move to Republic. Schoolboy is now distributed by Republic Records.

Big Machine Records is an American record label, distributed by Universal Music Group. Specializing in country and pop artists, Big Machine is based on Music Row in Nashville, Tennessee. The label was founded in September 2005 by former DreamWorks Records executive Scott Borchetta and became a joint venture between Borchetta and country singer Toby Keith. The company concentrates on publishing, management, and merchandising and oversees imprints, such as Valory Music, that are part of the Big Machine Label Group. The purchase of Big Machine Records by Ithaca in 2019 resulted in a highly publicized dispute and controversy with American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift regarding the ownership of the masters of her Big Machine albums. In August 2023, it was reported that some artists terminated their respective management contracts with Ithaca, in result.

After studying musical theatre for most of her school life and while in university, Jepsen garnered mainstream attention after placing third on the fifth season of Canadian Idol in 2007. Raymond Braun Media Group, also well known by its acronym RBMG, is a record label founded in 2008 as a joint venture by R&B artist Usher and talent agent Scooter Braun.
