Science City Chennai is an autonomous organization established in 1998 under the Department of Higher Education of the Government of Tamil Nadu, India, for the promotion and popularization of science and technology. A agglomeration of more than 60 educational and research institutions in Guindy - Taramani area belonging to both Central and State Governments has been declared as Science City.

Details of AwardsThe Lifetime Achievement is bestowed on eminent scientist above the age of 60. The candidate applying for the award should have carried out exemplary work in the field of science and technology, which would be useful to mankind. The award carries a cash prize and a citation.

The Senior Scientist Award is bestowed on eminent Scientists above the age of 40 and below 60. Proposals will be invited from across the State during the month of December every year and the received proposals will be scrutinised by a high power expert committee. The award carries a cash prize and a citation.

The Young Scientist award is bestowed on Scientist below the age of 40. Proposals will be received from scientists across the state during the month of December and scrutinised by a high power expert committee. The award carries a cash prize and a citation. This award is conferred on women scientists in order to encourage and motivate women scientists to take up research in Science and Technology.

Children's Science Academy Award is bestowed on school students of classes 9, 10 and 11 submitting outstanding theoretical projects submitted by schools students. The award is given away in 6 disciplines of Science viz., Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Social Sciences and Computer Science / Information technology. The award carries a cash prize and certificate. As a part of the award the students are invited to attend an exclusive science camp for the awardees all expenses borne by the Science City.

Gender and Science.

The Science City established the gender cell with the objective of bringing gender equality and upliftment of women. The gender cell of Science City organises various programmes like Entrepreneur Development Programme (EDP), Entrepreneur Awareness Programme (EAP), workshops, National and International Seminars, International Women's Day Celebrations, Inter college Cultural programmes etc.

Mylswamy Annadurai, popularly known as Moon Man of India, is an Indian scientist working as vice president for Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology (TNSCST), Chairman, Board of Governors, National Design and Research Forum(NDRF. He was born on 2 July 1958, in a village called Kothavadi near Pollachi in Coimbatore district, Tamil Nadu state of India). Prior to taking this assignment he was with Indian Space Research Organisation and served as Director, ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC), Bangalore. During his 36 years of service in ISRO, he had some of the major contributions, including two of the major missions of ISRO, namely Chandrayaan-1 and Mangalyaan. Annadurai has been listed among 100 Global thinkers of 2014 and topped the innovators list. His works are mentioned in textbooks of Tamil Nadu Board of Secondary Education

The College of Engineering, Guindy and Madras Institute of Technology, which are the constituent college of Anna University along with Alagappa College of Technology are the pioneer institutes of engineering education in India. Malcolm Sathiyanathan Adiseshiah, was an Indian development economist and educator. In 1976 he was awarded the Padma Bhushan, India's third-highest civilian award. The Anna Centenary Library (ACL) is an established state library of the Government of Tamil Nadu. It is located at Kotturpuram, Chennai. It is built at a cost of 172 crores. It is named after a former chief minister of Tamil Nadu, C. N. Annadurai. It was opened by the then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M. Karunanidhi. The average number of persons who visited the library between January and October 2011 is around 26,500, compared to the monthly average of 20,000 in 2010.

The Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Award, named after the 11th President of India and aerospace scientist A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, is awarded by the Government of Tamil Nadu in recognition of contributions on scientific development, humanities and students' welfare.

Loyola College, Chennai is a private Catholic higher education institution run by the Chennai Province of the Society of Jesus in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It was founded in 1925 by the French Jesuit priest, Rev Fr Francis Bertram, SJ along with other European Jesuits. It is an autonomous Jesuit college affiliated with the University of Madras. Loyola commerce association celebrated its 75th year in 2019. According to NIRF 2020 the college is ranked 6th.

Thiruvalluvar Award is an annual award given by the State Government of Tamil Nadu, India, in memory of the ancient poet-philosopher Valluvar. It is given to those who have made an outstanding contribution towards the Kural literature and its philosophy. It is given in January of every year since 1986, on the 2nd day of the Tamil month of Thai observed by the Tamil Nadu government as the Thiruvalluvar Day, and is given on behalf of Tamil Development Authority.
