Scott Hirsch is an American internet entrepreneur. He got his start in online business when he marketed contact lenses and other products online in 1992. He entered the commercial email marketing business in 1998 when he founded eDirect. In 2004, Hirsch founded Relation Serve Media, an interactive advertising agency also specializing in email marketing.

In 2009, Hirsch co-founded Appsbar Inc, [1] which allows users to build their own apps. He currently runs Appsbar and is a boxing manager. Scott is also a writer and regular contributor to Huffington Post, [2] Young Upstarts, [3] Silicon Angle, [4] and BetaNews. [5]

App-building software

Appsbar Inc in April 2011 launched a beta version of Appsbar, a desktop tool that allows users to build customized apps for use on smartphones and tablets. The program is free of charge and the end product does not feature advertising. The goal is to offer a simple way for everyday users to build their own professional-looking complex apps—free of charge. In 2014, TechRepublic [6] published a review of 3 no-code Android app development platforms and reported that Appsbar is "ready to take on the task of creating a full-blown Android app for your business." The tool ensures that each app is compatible with popular online marketplaces including iTunes [7] and Android Market. [8]

In January 2012, Appsbar [1] had more than 60,000 users and was featured in popular media, including Inc., [9] PC Mag, [10] Fox Business, [11] and the Pittsburgh Tribune Review. [12] By 2013, the Miami Herald [13] reported that Appsbar had “empowered more than 600,000 small businesses to build their own apps for free.” In January 2015, Business News Daily [14] included Appsbar as one of “14 Best App Makers.”

Appsbar won the American Business Awards 2012 Gold "Stevie" for Best New Tech Company. [15]

Internet marketing

Hirsch entered the commercial email marketing business (a.k.a. the spam game) in 1998 when he founded eDirect, which later merged with Naviant in 2002. Time [16] reported that Hirsch sold Naviant to consumer credit giant Equifax [17] for a staggering $135,000,000. The combined entity known as Naviant became one of the largest players in the Internet direct-marketing space. Naviant went on to be a leader in online registration trends, and introduced the concept of email data appending ("e-pending") to postal lists.

In 2004 Hirsch founded Relation Serve Media, an interactive advertising agency also specializing in email marketing. Hirsch took the company public on the American Stock Exchange in 2005 under the symbol RSVM. in 2008 Scott Hirsch founded DigDev, a digital media agency doing business as DigDev Direct. [18]

Direct marketing

Hirsch got his start in online business when he first marketed contact lenses and other products online in 1992. Lens Express opened its first full-service virtual store in the original AOL Mall. The company was featured in the early Bulletin Board System's O'Reilly's Web, Prodigy, and CompuServe. From 1986 to 1996, Hirsch was Vice President of Lens Express. The company was ranked among the 500 fastest growing private companies by Inc. [19] magazine for 1993, 1994 and 1995. Owing to this venture, Hirsch continues to be quoted as an emarketing expert in mainstream press including Entrepreneur [20] and The Street. [21]

Athletics

Currently, Hirsch is a professional boxing manager based out of Florida. He manages five-time World Champion and International Boxing Federation No. 1 ranked junior middleweight Cory Spinks. He was named the 2006 WBO's Boxing Manager of the Year and nominated by the Boxing Writers Association of America for the same award. His three heavyweights Shannon Briggs, Jameel McCline and JD Chapman went a combined 14-0 in 2006. He managed two-time heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs to seven consecutive victories and the WBO World Heavyweight title prior to losing a unanimous decision to Sultan Ibragimov in June 2007 in Atlantic City. He also guided Jameel McCline to six straight wins and a WBA title shot, which McCline lost due to a knee injury in January 2007 in Basel, Switzerland. He's built Arkansas heavyweight prospect, JD Chapman a record of 27-0 and helped him garner a #14 world rating in the WBC. Chapman has yet to face a rated contender. Hirsch's fighters are regularly featured on national television and on cards of major promoters including Don King, Wilfred Sauerland, Golden Boy, Main Events, Cedric Kushner and Duva Boxing.

Hirsch himself has participated in two professional boxing matches and won both fights by first round knockout.

A lifelong racquetball enthusiast, Hirsch played on the racquetball team at Providence College and won the Big East Intercollegiate Regional Racquetball Championship in 1985. Hirsch co-founded the Legends of Racquetball and Paddleball Tour in 2002 with six-time world champion, Marty Hogan and Steve Keeley. Hirsch served as executive director of the tour from 2002-2005.

Personal life

Hirsch was born in Miami, Florida on April 14, 1966. He graduated from Hollywood Hills High School and attended Providence College. He has two children. He resides in Boca Raton, Florida.

Tagged is a social discovery website based in San Francisco, California, founded in 2004. It allows members to browse the profiles of any other members, and share tags and virtual gifts. Tagged claims it has 300 million members as of 2014. As of September 2011, Quantcast estimates Tagged monthly unique users at 5.9 million in the United States, and 18.6 million globally. Michael Arrington wrote in April 2011 that Tagged is most notable for the ability to grow profitably during the era of Facebook.

Dropbox is a file hosting service operated by the American company Dropbox, Inc., headquartered in San Francisco, California, US that offers cloud storage, file synchronization, personal cloud, and client software. Dropbox was founded in 2007 by MIT students Drew Houston and Arash Ferdowsi as a startup company, with initial funding from seed accelerator Y Combinator.

Salesforce Marketing Cloud Digital marketing automation provider

Salesforce Marketing Cloud is a provider of digital marketing automation and analytics software and services. It was founded in 2000 under the name ExactTarget. The company filed for an IPO in 2007, but withdrew its filing two years later and raised $145 million in funding. It acquired CoTweet, Pardot, iGoDigital and Keymail Marketing. In 2012, it raised $161.5 million in an initial public offering, before being acquired by Salesforce for $2.5 billion in 2013. ExactTarget was renamed to Salesforce Marketing Cloud in 2014 after the acquisition by Salesforce.

DocuSign American Technology Firm

Pinterest is an image sharing and social media service designed to enable saving and discovery of information on the internet using images, and on a smaller scale, animated GIFs and videos, in the form of pinboards. The site was created by Ben Silbermann, Paul Sciarra, and Evan Sharp, and had over 478 million global monthly active users as of March 2021. It is operated by Pinterest, Inc., based in San Francisco.

Google Drive Cloud storage and file synchronization service developed by Google

Google Drive is a file storage and synchronization service developed by Google. Launched on April 24, 2012, Google Drive allows users to store files in the cloud, synchronize files across devices, and share files. In addition to a web interface, Google Drive offers apps with offline capabilities for Windows and macOS computers, and Android and iOS smartphones and tablets. Google Drive encompasses Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides, which are a part of the Google Docs Editors office suite that permits collaborative editing of documents, spreadsheets, presentations, drawings, forms, and more. 500px is a global online photo-sharing platform that is a subsidiary of Visual China Group. It is based in Toronto, Canada. It was co-founded by Oleg Gutsol and Evgeny Tchebotarev on October 31, 2009.

Polyvore was a community-powered social commerce website headquartered in Mountain View, California. The company's virtual mood board function allowed community members to add products into a shared product index, and use them to create image collages called "Sets". They could also browse other users' sets for inspiration, share sets with friends and interact with people through comments and likes. Due to the visual nature of the tool Polyvore was mostly used to build sets in the fields of home decoration, beauty and fashion. Online retailers, too, could upload their product images to Polyvore and link back to their product pages or use Polyvore to encourage users to showcase their products through such activities as board creation competitions. Polyvore opened an office in New York City in August 2012. At that point the company said it had amassed 17 million active users. By the end of 2012 the company said its site was receiving 20 million unique visitors per month, a number which continued to be used in 2016. The site was bought by SSENSE and, on April 5, 2018 it was completely shut down.

Microsoft SwiftKey Virtual keyboard app

Microsoft SwiftKey is a virtual keyboard app originally developed by TouchType for Android and iOS devices. It was first released for Android in July 2010, followed by an iOS release in September 2014 after Apple allowed third-party keyboard support.

Newton (app)

The application is known for its searching capabilities, cross-platform abilities and user interface. It has been referred to as an email client better than Gmail's native app. As from September 15, 2016, CloudMagic has been renamed to Newton Mail with premium services, adding a host of new features and functions.

Firebase is a platform developed by Google for creating mobile and web applications. It was originally an independent company founded in 2011. In 2014, Google acquired the platform and it is now their flagship offering for app development.

Product Hunt is an American website to share and discover new products. It was founded by Ryan Hoover in November 2013.

Microsoft Garage

The Microsoft Garage is a Microsoft program that encourages employees to work on projects about which they are passionate, despite having no relation to their primary function within the company. Employees from all divisions of Microsoft are free to take part in Microsoft Garage activities and small-scale innovation projects. The Microsoft Garage is a global program with locations on the main campus in Redmond, Washington, and several others spread all over the world, and a website that launched in October 2014 to share experimental projects with customers.

Pyrus (software)

Pyrus is a cloud-based workflow automation and document management system developed by Simply Good Software, Inc. Pyrus comes as SaaS and offers a web-based interface to launch workflows, assign tasks, and manage documents. It is a unified corporate communication environment, accessible from any device. Mobile versions are available for all platforms, including iOS, Android, and Android Wear. Users are able to set up and route workflows without coding and IT assistance.

Alto Mail

Alto Mail was a multi-service email client and proprietary email intelligence engine built to analyze and restructure incoming emails and calendar events by Oath Inc. It supported IMAP email providers like Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, iCloud, and AOL Mail, as well as email providers using Microsoft Exchange. The centerpiece of the Alto email app was the Dashboard, which acted as a hub where information from multiple inboxes and integrated Calendars was displayed. The information was analyzed and then delivered in the forms of “Cards”, which allowed users to view snapshots of important emails and events ranging from travel details to shopping information, as well as mapping and ride service support for upcoming calendar events. Alto Mail had integration with other popular productivity technology such as Slack, and the Amazon Echo, providing Alexa support for linked accounts.
