Scott Stangland is an American actor. He's most well known for his performances as Eamon in Once and Pierre Bezukhov in Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812 , both on Broadway. For the latter performance, he won an Elliot Norton Award and IRNE Award in the pre-Broadway run at the A.R.T. [1] When Great Comet transferred to the Imperial Theatre, singer-songwriter Josh Groban took over the role of Pierre and Stangland became the standby. However, later in the run, he took over the role for a temporary stint in between the runs of Okieriete Onaodowan and the show's creator, Dave Malloy. [2] [3] [4]

Mandel Bruce Patinkin is an American actor and singer, known for his work in musical theatre, television, and film. As a critically acclaimed Broadway performer he has collaborated with Stephen Sondheim and Andrew Lloyd Webber. Patinkin's leading roles on stage and screen have received numerous accolades including a Tony Award, a Primetime Emmy Award as well as nominations for seven Drama Desk Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
The Great Comet of 1811, formally designated C/1811 F1, is a comet that was visible to the naked eye for around 260 days, the longest recorded period of visibility until the appearance of Comet Hale–Bopp in 1997. In October 1811, at its brightest, and when it was 1.2 AU from Earth, it displayed an apparent magnitude of 0, with an easily visible coma.
The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) is a professional not-for-profit theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812 is a sung-through musical adaptation of a 70-page segment from Leo Tolstoy's 1869 novel War and Peace written by composer/lyricist Dave Malloy and directed by Rachel Chavkin. It is based on Part 8 of Tolstoy's novel, focusing on Natasha's romance with Anatole and Pierre's search for meaning in his life.
