Sea Speed Ferries was a Greek ferry company operating from the Greek mainland to Cyclades in the Aegean Sea. The company was founded in 2018 and operated a single conventional Ro-Pax ferry. The company ceased operations in 2022, following a controversy with a Greek subsidised line.
In 2019, the company bought its first and only ferry, the M/F Olympus built in 1976. It was due to be routed from Piraeus to Rethymno via Milos and Santorini. The maiden voyage turned to be a misfortune, as it hit a reef in Santorini and ceased routes for repairs. In December 19 of the same year, the first trip directly to Rethymno (without passengers) was taken places and the ship started sailing. [1] The service was met with mixed receptions from passengers, and was criticized for delays and an extremely long route. A company spokesperson stated on a local radio station that "The traffic from Rethymno is recovering" and attributed the delays and long journey to lack of proper port infrastructure and sufficient traffic to sustain a direct trip to Rethymno. The ship also briefly hosted visitors for the Rethymno Carnival. [2] Another incident happened in June 2020 in Rethymno with no injuries. It was eventually laid up and was auctioned several times due to debts by Revoil, a gas company. [3] [4]
In 2022, the company requested to take the Piraeus-Milos-Santorini-Anafi-Heraklion-Siteia-Kasos-Karpathos-Chalki-Rhodes subsidised line, then operated by ANEK Lines' M/F Prevelis. The ship was due to start sailings in Summer, however, it didn't commence the trip on time, starting a controversy among the local islanders, visitors and even the government. The company attributed that the ship didn't start due to a COVID-19 case in on a crew member and that people that were due to travel will be refunded. [5] The date for the maiden voyage was postponed, but that didn't end the controversy. Instead the route was given back to ANEK Lines and M/F Prevelis. [6]

ANEK Lines is one of the largest passenger shipping companies in Greece. It was founded in 1967 by numerous shareholders who were inhabitants of Crete. It operates passenger ferries, mainly on the Piraeus–Crete and Adriatic Sea routes.
The MS Pride of Winchester, was a UK Ro-Ro/Passenger ferry, which was part of P&O European Ferries' fleet. She was built in 1975 by Aalborg as the Viking Viscount for Townsend Thoresen and was put into service by P&O European Ferries in 1989, when European Ferries Group was purchased by P&O. She was named after Winchester, a city in Hampshire, England.

Hellenic Seaways is 100% controlled by the Attica Group following the acquisition of minority interest of 1.17% in July 2019. In December 2023 it absorbed 100% of ANEK Lines, rendering the operator number two in the number of passengers commuted in Europe.

Despite the Greek economic crisis, Miran is expanding its business and has doubled in size to accommodate increased demand. The founder of the shop, Miran Kourounlian, is thought to be the man who brought pastourma to Athens for the first time. Miran is considered the largest company of its kind in the European Union. The flavour of pastourma coming from the historical enterprise permeates Euripides Street in the centre of Athens. Miran and its neighbor Arapian Cold Cuts are considered two of the historical establishments of Athens. Miran has been in the same spot in Euripidou Street since its opening in 1922. Miran is the recipient of multiple gourmet prizes.

MS Kydon Palace is a Greek Ro-Pax high speed ferry, built in 2001 at the Sestri Ponente shipyards by Fincantieri as Festos Palace for Minoan Lines' overnight services between Piraeus and Crete. Initially she ran to Heraklion. In 2020 she was transferred to the Piraeus–Chania route and renamed Kydon Palace She is a sister ship of Knossos Palace. She can reach speeds up to 30 knots. The ship's facilities include restaurants, bars and cabins.
MF Prevelis is a Ro-Pax ferry, built in 1980 by Imabari Shipbuilding in Japan as Ferry Orange No 2 for Shikoku Kaihatsu Ferry. On 27 December 1980 she was put into service on the Toyo(ja) - Osaka route. In 1994, she was bought by Rethymniaki Naftiliaki SA and was named Preveli after Preveli Monastery. Following a refit in Perama, she started to operate on the Piraeus - Rethymno route. After the 1999 acquisition of Rethymniaki by ANEK Lines, Prevelis operates in the colors of ANEK.

She is a motor Ro-Ro/Passenger ferryboat, built in 1998 at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries shipyard at Shimonoseki, Japan, and put into service by ANEK at 2008. It holds a total of 1,874 passengers and 620 vehicles, She has 323 passenger air type seats. She has two Pielstick 12PC4-2 engines, with combined power of 26,180 kW and reaches speeds of up to 24 knots. It also has an internet cafe. The ship has been awarded by ShipPax Awards 2009 as the ship with the best retrofit for 2008. It was named after Elyros; an ancient city of southwestern Crete.
Savvas Xiros is a Greek terrorist and member of Revolutionary Organization 17 (17N). He was arrested on June 29, 2002, at the Piraeus port after a bomb exploded in his hands. He was put on trial in 2003. He was convicted of life imprisonment for murders, robberies, explosions and participation in 17N.

MS Spero, was a British ferry ship, which was part of Ellerman Wilson's fleet. She was built by Camell Laird Shipsbuilders in 1966. She was later sold on to NEL Lines as the Sappho, and was the company's first ship. She was in use from 1973 up to 2001, when she was sold to Carra and Pontikos as the Santorini 3. She was eventually sold for scrap as the Santori.
The MS Mytilene was a ferry ship of Greece, which used to be part of NEL Lines' fleet. She was built in 1973 in Japan as the Vega and put into service for NEL in 1992. She is a sister ship of Virgo, which also came to Greece as the GA Ferries' Rodanthi. She could accommodate up to 1300 passengers and 225 vehicles. The shipis powered by two Pielstick 16PC2-5V diesel engines with a maximum combined power of 19,200 bhp and reached service speeds up to 21 knots and maximum speed up to 23.8. She had economy class seating, a salon and bar for A and economy class passengers, a self service restaurant, dining room, jewellery safekeeping room, telephone and gift shop. She took her name from Mytilene, the largest city and capital of Lesvos.

Rio railway station is a railway station in Rio, a town in the suburbs of Patras in the northwestern Peloponnese, Greece. The station is located just outside the centre of the city, on Piraeus–Patras line and Patras–Kyparissia line and is severed by both Proastiakos Patras Services. Pending the completion of the Athens Airport–Patras railway, it is also the starting point of Hellenic Train bus lines to Aigio, Diakopto and Kiato, where connecting train services to Athens Airport and Piraeus are available. Diakopto is also the terminus of the unique rack railway to Kalavryta.
